Gordhan a disaster for SOEs, say ANC NEC members

Johannesburg - Public Enterprises Minister was the prime target for several ANC members at the party's National Executive Committee meeting on Saturday morning.

Ten vocal members wanted what they called "reflection on Gordhan's performance as minister", arguing that he was a disaster for the nation's state-owned enterprises.

Although the agenda item was initially contested by party chairperson Gwede Mantashe, the opposing faction didn't let go.

Leading the charge against Gordhan was NEC member Mosebenzi Zwane, who wanted to know why the ANC treated Finance Minister Tito Mboweni and Gordhan as "super-ministers".

Ramaphosa is expected to respond to the grievances against Gordhan later on Saturday.

The fight for SOEs is by the Zuptoids still benefiting and various other corrupt interests. Zwane is well qualified to lead that charge being so experienced at selling South African resources for some chump change

Because he is generally pretty good at his job...

I would hazard a guess that he still is, but is operating in a very difficult political environment and much like CR this is hampering him... especially since CR seems to be unable (at this point) to show a backbone.

Sure, he offers resistance against the outright looting. It's not that we think he is the greatest ever, it's just that we know the alternative that will be in his place is very likely to be one of the looters.

yeah supersunbird has it, he was the guy that put the brakes on the looting at the time. spoke some sense amidst the madness.

so everyone that voted for zuma must go. out of the entire pack of hyenas, why is pravin cause for such concern? considering the ones that are calling for him to go...
