7th Gen core I cpu? Does it have a nvme slot?
You definitely don't want to be running windows on an HDD. Anything you buy now will probably be a massive upgrade.

7th Gen yes. Not sure if it has a NVME slot. I know it has like 12 screws to even access the insided.

I'm a life long windows user and I want to try Linux agian. Played with Ubuntu like 20 years ago. If only it could run ms office natively.

Lol dude that looks like an easy install. Undo some screws and the back cover pops off. On some laptops you need to get in underneath the keyboard. Alternatively take it to your local mom and pop computer store for an upgrade. I'd be slightly worried about my data getting stolen that way though.

Easy for some. Last time I built a PC I got a panic attack!

Why would you want to run that god awful thing. Use libre office that comes with Mint

No I mean I use it for work. We use Office 365 E3. Small company so if I wanted to run Linux I could. I know Outlook and the other MS apps like can be used in a web interface. Onedrive on the other hand is harder to replace. It syncs files automatically to the cloud.
 
Big question is if I should wait until next year and possibly get a AM5 system then.

The whole RAM prices thing seem to say no though...

Go AM4, you'll have a pretty decent system for quite sometime, it took many years for the Zen Plus cpus from 2019 to start feeling archaic and even now the zen 2 are just starting to.
 
When the PC arrives should it be set up with a Microsoft account? Not sure how the product key thing works for Windows with pre-built systems.

If they installed it for you

Youll get the disk and Windows will already be installed - they will probably create an account called ADMIN or something for you as the main login
