Seriously, are all you guys in this world due to the rare occurrence of two rocks doing "it"? Read around a bit, I did post this on some other forum:
http://www.reghardware.co.uk/2008/06/09/apple_unveils_3g_iphone/
"Apple said the 3G iPhone will be rolling out in some 70 countries over the coming few months, with 22 nations getting it on 11 July. Jobs promised that wherever you buy the 8GB model, you won't pay more than the equivalent of $199 (£101/€127)"
The key word here guys is the following: WHEREVER. Now I know this is South Africa, and we tend to give the Bermuda Triangle a run for it's money when it comes to weird stuff happening concerning Apple products, but Steve is in control. And simply put, If the phone goes for anything more than (Let's see, 14:00 the exchange rate was 7.9905, which makes it R2397.15 for the 16GB and R1598.1 for the 8GB...) R2397.15 for the 16GB and R1598.1 for the 8GB, then Steve Jobs would have blatantly lied, and I refuse to support a liar anyways. But do the maths. He said it won't go for more than that, SO if you do buy one for R3500 from Shardie, you might get ripped off...I mean, how much will it be to unlock the phone?!R1100? Just wondering aloud...
So one thing I do wonder about the phone is, If VODASCUM is providing it to South Africa, regardless of which network you are on or which contract you are on, what would the locked status of the phone be? I mean, If I want to get it on MTN, then change in 12 months to Vodacom, would they lock it on MTN?
Okay, I might not be informed properly as I have gotten fed up with the i-Hype and no action since the phone was announced, so I might miss some facts about the unlocked status of it...
