And what is funny, the smallest operator, with the lowest proffit, still offers the lowest call rates. VOdacom could easily have changed call rates, but they found it easier to admit ddddeeeffffeeeeeaaaat

Vodacom didn't have much of a choice. At the time they said the cheapest call rates they were not the cheapest. Adjusting their prices would not have changed the fact that they lied.

V3g doesn't respond to ppdbs anymore since I took him on on the subject and their data pricing I think. :D Why would anyone still want bundles when Virgin's lightyears ahead? With all Vodacom's cock-ups over the last two years and now officially behind all three the other providers I am seriously thinking about starting an anti Vodacom sentiment website. I wonder what would be the implications of using 'vodacom' in the url together with my own string appended to it.

I sms'd mymeg to 100 and got this message:

"your data bundle purchase was unsuccessful due to invalid bundle size. Please SMS mymeg X to 100 where X is the is the size of the bundle you desire..."

please explain V3G

Nothing to explain about the message, it's very clear on what to do. But will it actually work or will they steal your money? Why can't we just have an option on *111# like with sms bundles I wonder.

Ppdb

I bought a 250mb ppdb and it works the only problem i have is that i have to phone the call centre to know what my ballance is.I feel it is by time that we got ppdb on the vc network. The call centre was shocked to hear that i got it to work, they ask me how did i know about the ppdb. Thanks to this forum.I'm happy paying 80c per meg than R2.

 What am I missing?

What PPDB's, Pray tell

(Or are you talking about the R0 4U contract with a "bolt on" - NOT THE SAME THING lol)

The PPDB are in test and it might happen that your SMS to purchase goes through, i.e. you might hit the system at a time it's up.

I'd strongly suggest you don't try this though, if you hit it while up, it'll take your money but then might just go off-line again, before you've depleted your PPDB.

So rather wait till I give the all-clear, although I've done that in the past....:o

@Prometheus, I've not gone quiet because of your comments, I'm just not responding to your interesting version of logic anymore :)

As soon as I have any news on PPDB, you guys will be the first to know.

OK, good news. At least we know we will be able to use "Spare Data Money" to buy Christmas Pressies for our kids :D

LOL We'll just agree to disagree on the subject. You bet it's interesting logic. Foreign thinking, not South African. :) MTN even damaged someone else's network  so you're right it's not as simple as just planting some cables you have to watch out for Telkom too... or not. :D

btw. You said there still was a way to get free internet, which is apparently fixed now. Was it to do with the topup accounts?

I think I saw on TV, Netstar captured the Unicorn, maybe they can find the PPDB's as well

We know they're out there somewhere.....
They found some missing socks as well. :) This thread has turned from a source of frustration to a source of amusement for me while I am happily smiling all the way to Virgin's bank account.
What about roll-over?
Will top up people be able to buy ppdb off their subscription airtime?
Now since when have these companies ever played fair.
