V3G can you confirm this?
Yes, we activated PPDB's yesterday, 1st of April. If I posted it in the morning you'd never believe me!![]()
We're easing into the system to ensure all the wrinkles have been sorted, so we're starting with the same bundles (500Mb up) as the new pricing on contract and also are not advertising it just yet.
The other services will then come on-line.
Great. One question, when do the bundles expire, 30 days from activation or at the end of that calendar month?
TERMS AND CONDITIONS FOR PREPAID DATA BUNDLES:
* Available to both prepaid and hybrid customers.
* Customers purchase a data bundle by allocating available funds in their prepaid account for the purchase of the data bundle of their choice. It is the customer's responsibility to ensure that they have adequate funds in their prepaid airtime account to purchase the data bundle of choice.
* When a customer purchase a data bundle, the funds used to purchase this data bundle is converted into the appropriate MB of data usage that has been bought. Balance enquiries will then display the appropriate amount of MB still available for usage in the data bundle.
* Any data bundle purchased must be used within 30 days from the date of activation and any remaining data in the data bundle after the 30 day period expires will be deleted.
* After expiry of the data bundle, any out of bundle GPRS/3G data usage will be charged at the standard MyMeg0 rate.
* Data Bundles purchased can not be used to make voice calls or send SMS's or for any other activity other than GPRS/3G data usage.
* Customers must be provisioned for data (GPRS/3G) in order for a prepaid data bundle to be activated.
* Multiple data bundle purchases are allowed and customers are allowed to add another data bundle to their prepaid data account - even before current data bundle is depleted.
* Should a data bundle be depleted during a data session, the customer will be charged at the standard MyMeg0 rate for the remainder of the data session, should they have sufficient funds in their prepaid account to allow this.
* Any data bundle purchase is irreversible - it is not possible to transfer any unused data into the normal prepaid account or reverse the charges.
* It is not possible to transfer funds from the prepaid data account to their normal I.N. account.
* Any data bundle purchased can only be used by the the MSISDN (cellular number) from which this data bundle is purchased.
* Call Sponsor does not apply to the purchase of data bundles - i.e. one customer can not sponsor a data balance transfer into the prepaid data account of another customer.
* It is the customer's responsibility to ensure that they have adequate funds in both their prepaid data bundle and normal prepaid airtime account to perform the actions that they wish to perform. Refunds will not be made to customers should they run out of funds in the middle of a data session and the session is terminated.
* An SMS notification will be generated when the customer's data bundle is depleted. It is the customer's choice when they want to purchase another data bundle or continue with the data session (at the standard MyMeg0 rates). Vodacom will not automatically terminate a data session when customers deplete their data bundle in the middle of a data session.
* Current business rules for prepaid data usage applies to all out of bundle data usage.
* Should the subscriber migrate to another prepaid or hybrid package while a balance exists in a data bundle previously purchased, the remainder of the data account will not be forfeited.
* Should the subscriber migrate to a contract package while a balance exists a data bundle previously purchased, the remainder of the data package will be forfeited
@v3g, as with the previous question about contract data bundles, how has the 30 day expiry been defined for PPDBs? - is a PPDB valid for 30 days from the date of activation of a PPDB or does it simply expire at the end of the calendar month in which it was purchased?
I am making a deliberate distinction here between date of purchase and date of activation...

I'm wondering, what if you load another bundle before 30 days, will the 1st bundle be carried over?
Let's say I have 2 days and 100 MB left on bundle 1, and I load another 250 MB. Will I be able to use that 100 MB for another 30 days as part of the 2nd bundle?
Is there a way to check your Data Balance on prepaid?

There are 3 ways you can buy a data bundle:
1. BUY ONLINE : Choose from a selecetion of data bundles to buy RIGHT NOW! - click here to buy.
2. SMS : Send a SMS of which data bundle you require (e.g., mymeg 500) to this number (100)
3. USSD : Dial (*111#) and follow the instructions on your cellphone.
Some things to keep in mind :
* Your Pre-Paid account will be billed for all Data Bundles purchased!
* You will be able to query your data bundle balance at any time by dialing (1441)

looks like V3G is in some monday morning PPDB meetings, he knows he's gonna get 1000 questions when he's back on the forum.
It's 30 days, i.e. not month-end, but I need to get clarity on the date-of-purchase vs. date-of-activation.
/edit: See it's already been answered: date of activation, but let met get the definition of 'activation' before you ask!!
Aren't date of purchase and date of activation the same date, i.e. the date when prepaid airtime is converted into the data bundle? Or am I missing something?![]()
This is really cool. I have already started proceedings on cancelling my ADSL line. It is just too unreliable. Is there any chance of us getting unexpiring prepaid data bundles soon? Even if they are more expensive then the expiring ones which I would expect. The reason for asking is that some months I need 2GB and other months 1GB or even less depending on what patches are released during a month. I would like to get the 2GB and then just add another when it expires or gets close to expiring. It's 30 days, i.e. not month-end, but I need to get clarity on the date-of-purchase vs. date-of-activation.
