Predictions for 2009

One prediction we can always bank on is that Apple will bring out another iPod Nano series :D ... but will we see the long anticipated iPhone "Nano"? I predict Apple will lose momentum and cool down in 2009 ... even wobble a bit.

I'm very interested to see what's going to happen to/at MTN next year.

I'm sure I read somewhere that there will be a price increase next year... also if you look at other countries (Brazil, India, NZ) and what they are paying for broadband... we are be ripped off so badly. So if they do decrease the price... its never by much. So yes, there are a lot of people that are a little bit pissed when you pay in excess of R 500 for a 3 Gig crap connection!!!

But with all the crap in this country... its still the best place to live on this planet!
 
A bevonkte prediction for 2009: Medvedev is assassinated and Putin takes full control. Putin puts pressure on Israel (through UN) to get rid of it's nuclear arsenal. Israel call's on US support. Heat builds up between US, Russia and UN. Iran insists that they will acquire nuclear weapons as long as Israel refuses to give in to UN pressure. World on brink of war a year from now.

No matter what Apple produces you can be sure it will be loaded with restrictions preventing you from getting apps from anyone other than them. Too bad they can't "Nano" the DRM.

South African banks will find new inventive ways to add even more bank charges.... maybe charging an entry fee into the branches?
MyWireless will continue its long declkine into oblivion.
Neotel still wont have coverage
Zim will release a 1 billion dollar note
Even less people will be able to afford entry level housing
JZ will be the new pres of ZA.

Prediction for 2009

Ivy is sent to jail for a very long time for being found guilty of artificially inflating the costs of telecoms and using her influence to manipulate Telkom's share price.

BEE is scrapped and all those who benefited by making millions and billions on the side as a result of the policies which unfairly discriminate against anyone not in the ruling class are stripped of their riches and are sent to jail on corruption charges.

Local bandwidth is provided free of charge, while the price for international bandwidth is slashed. The capping of bandwidth will be declared unconstitutional and against the law. Reason being it inhibits access to information.
 
ic turns out to be a bot built out of old vcr parts and a few commodore64 bits

Ubuntu starts winning ground even faster against Microsoft

The seacom cable lands and not much changes. The earth does not stand still and fat-assed communications ministers don't wake up suddenly and start walking on water.

Australia win second test - Ivy plans to stay on until 2010 - but is dependant on how good or bad things are going - watch out for hats - Telkom worries about drastic number of fixed line losses
 
WTF with seacom

a few months ago i remember hearing about how when the SEACOM cable reaches us, prices will be slashed by upto 90%, speeds will go up by upto 10 times and THERE WILL BE NO CAPPING.
now all i hear is that caps will be upto 3 times larger-HOORAY!

why is this?
i think it comes down to collusion and greed
it cant be all IVY's fault.
so i humbly request all those who have influence and contacts to make some noise, ask some questions and do whatever you can to let the monkeys at the top know that we are SICK AND TIRED of being exploited .
i wish we could all boycott by hitting them where it hurts the most-their pockets-cancel all residential subscriptions until they start playing the game with us.
even Neotel- not living upto expectations- i know they can do better.
