I have googled the internet vrot and I cannot get some useful info from it. Will someone with a bit more exp than me help!?

I have a HP Officejet G55. Ubuntu picked up the printer and installed it. It scans perfectly, and when it should print - well I have no clue what it does! It send the print job, it goes into the queue, it 'processes' and the printer is still standing there idly all the while.

i have fiddled with hplip, hpjod or something. Followed steps and so on, so there is a good chance that somewhere I buggered up something as well. The scanner still works though:D

Any help will be appreciated!

The G55 is a pretty old man. I would suggest firstly make sure the printer actually works, either make a copy of something from the platten or set it up on windows and try to print. These machines had common issues with the cartridges that would stop them from printing, maybe try reseating them. Beyond that, I unfortunately am very sketchy on Linux.

Can you print a test page?

My cop-out is to use printers without proper Linux support from a VirtualBox (closed source version from Oracle/Sun, to get USB capability) running XP.
