Printers for under R1200

Hey guys I guess the time has come for me to get a new printer. My old Lexmark Z22 just doesn't cut it anymore.

Some suggestions for something thats below R1200, also how much does the ink cartridges cost?
 
I got one of those 3 in 1's I have a - HP Officejet 4355 All-In-One, not too sure of the ink price as I have hardly used it to print anything :)
 
go and look for a samsung colour laser

its around 1.5k but worth the extra 300 bucks

dont buy inkjet unless you wanna do photo's or whateva

Ye dude, but those toner cartridges often cost more than the printer!!!
 
I need a printer that doesn't cost too much on cartridges
 
well i dunno mre

i get far more copies outta laser mono and colours printers than i ever did with my old inkjet/crapjet printers

they are faster last longer and cost less per page than inkjet

I'll ask around for you on colour.

I just bought a Samsung Mono Laser for 725 excl this week. At that price, Its cheaper to buy a new printer everytime now than to replace ink cartridges or even bother with ink anymore
 
725 ex vat thats expensive

i saw them at sahara a few weeks back for 489 ex vat :) although may have been a different model
 
Hmm that is much cheaper, though still cheaper than ink nowdays regardless.

What model was that though.. I got the ML2010
 
I can highly recommend Canon printers, for quality and speed, but only the higher end IP3x or 4x range. Stay away from the low end model numbers, they make too much noise and produce inferior prints.

The ink tanks can be expensive if you buy originals, but generics are cheaper.

It also depends what you want to do with the printer, as printing lots of photos will kill the tanks far faster than just printing text.

I want to mainly use the printer for documents with odd picture in it.
 
I got my HP PSC ( printer + scanner + copier ) 1600 for R299... compliments of cash crusaders and i just love the thing... hardly use my colour cartridge and as for the black, got 500ml of ink which i use to fill 'er up.
 
How often do you have to fill the ink up?
 
Well bought the refill kit about 5 months ago and have only filled the cartridge twice. IMO the ink lasts pretty long... cant say how many pages cos i really never thought to check.
 
Get a HP 5610 AIO. Its a damn good printer sold many (10+), i bought one myself. The HP's are cheap to re-fill like R80.
