I am having a problem with my one iMac on 10.4 accessing an exchange server. It was all working fine until today. I used to be able to see the server under Network > My Network. I can ping the Exchange server, but when I try access it through SMB I get an "incorrect username and password error" I went to the keychains and deleted any previous server login entries, but still not working.

I have another iMac on 10.5 which works perfectly fine when trying to access the server through SMB.

It is very strange. I have trashed any system network config files, and still no fix. Is there something else I am missing. Everything seems fine on the Exchange server side.

Is there a difference in the way that 10.5 uses SMB than 10.4

I am going to re-install the 10.4 system software, and if that doesnt work, then upgrade to 10.5 and see if that resolves anything. But if anyone knows anything else I can try, please let me know.

The problem is it is trying to access data off the exchange server not mail.

I have also tried with the ethernet and wireless, so both have the same problem. I thought it might be a faulty ethernet card. But guess not...

If you have 768mb or more RAM, Leopard will run really well on it, at least as well as Tiger.

I know it sounds stupid but have you specified any proxy settings (if you are going through a proxy)?

N there are no proxy servers specified. And when I look on the other iMac which is connecting, there are no proxies settings specified there either. I'm doing and archive and install of 10.4 now. Holds thumbs that resolves whatever it is. Next up, upgrade to 10.5
