As per Thread title i have a customer with 10 machines on the network, on 4 of the machines Skype refuses point blank to login, i have checked firewall settings, reset the hardware firewall, un-installed and re-installed the program, but on these 4 machines it refuses point blank to connect. On all the other machines it works 100%.

I have also taken one of the machines and put it on another network at a different location and it works once - and only once - then the same issue.

Any ideas from anyone?

I had the same issue recently. Did you re-install the latest version of Skype? That worked for me.

i can't count the times i've re-installed the latest version....

Latest version would have been my recommendation too. But seems that's not the problem. Maybe something on that machine is blocking the default port.. you can try and change the port and see.

are these win8 PCs?

If yes, did you use the desktop install or app store?

Win 7 , All of them

Tried changing ports too, disabled firewalls and anti virus too. still no luck. It's driving me insane.......

Skype support is non-existant too

Once you've checked it's not port, firewall or AV, quit Skype. Delete the file shared.xml in the appdata\skype folder.

wish it was that simple.....................unfortunately it did not work :(

Keep getting this

Ok. Try this: Make sure Skype is not running. Rename the whole \skype folder in appdata to something else, eg skype_prev, then log off from user profile and on again, restart Skype.

Are you logging in with Skype name or Microsoft creds? If MS creds, is the MS user account in Live associated with the Skype account?

Did that too.

I have also re-installed the OS on one of the machines, skype worked once, and never again. here i thought it was the router/firewall (Netgear 318G) but seeing that other machines on the SAME network don't have a problem i can pretty much rule that out.

Eish. I'm out of ideas sitting here at the car wash.

Can you log in to another user's Skype account on the same (problem) machine? That should tell you if it's a local issue or outside the machine.

tried with seven different accounts on the machine, the same accounts work on the machine that does connect

Then it has to be something on that user's profile/policies installed on that machine. If other users can successfully login to Skype on the same (problem) machine, then it can't be router/firewall/av. It's got to be something specific to that user's set-up/profile.

So just a little update on this issue.

The affected machine is on a network that get's internet via a WISP who in turn gets connected to the mweb network.
I was talking to the WISP owner now and he logged out of his skype account and cannot re-connect! so he has raised an issue with Mweb, hopefully it will be resolved by the morning. (one can only hope)
