Projector or 42" lcd

Well if you want true 1080p and not compressed your looking at a small fortune.

20-40k

aha. well seeing as i am investigating the possibilty of a 50" Plasma, I guess I should do some research into projectors as well.

Milo i just ordered it today man, i will let you know how it goes.

I have looked at alot of lcd's and plasma's i am receiving the projector tomorrow and will let you know once i'm hooked up.

I think for 5k if this does work i will have 72"s of awesomeness for 1/3 of the price :) of a 50" plasma

Use the composite or S-Video for your DSTV decoder...that's if you don't have a HD decoder in which case you'll obviously use the HDMI connector.

Not sure about the divx question, but the sound from all appliances has to go to the radio/amp/speakers.

Ok got the dstv worked out, i need a yellow cable from the back of decoder into the projector, then i plug my L and R speakers into the dstv decoder for sound.

My divx player has s-video as well so i am assuming i use that as well to plug into my decoder but i cannot figure out to get sound from divx as it only has optical.

Hehe milo need to get cables and what not for it but i can tell you the screen is huge like 2m length not sure height yet.

If your speakers have a built in amp then yes, you can plug them directly into the decoder - otherwise they have to go through a amp.

You probaly mean you have to plug S-Video into the PJ and not the decoder.

Give me a link to (or name of) your divx player and I'll be able to give an opinion.
No player would only have optical out for sound. (afaik)

Zeb i have cheap 5.1 speakers man that i am plugging into the dstv decoder, this won't work?

How much are amps?

I'm sure your 5.1 system will have an amp so there's no worry I think ;)

On your divx player you want to use component for best image results.
Wire A would go into your projector's VGA to RGB adapter and then into the projector's VGA port.
Wire B - the red and white plug, goes into your sound system for stereo sound.
If you want 5.1 you'll have to fork out quite a bit more to use the optical cable on a didgital system :)
