I'm abso-****ing-lutely livid right now.

Over the holidays I used my projector and at one stage I heard a loud clap sound and then the projector stopped working. Now everything points towards the lamp that has broken. The lamp LED on the projector is also glowing red. Even the manual states that if the lamp breaks it is accompanied by a loud clap sound. Unfortunately after I took out the lamp I couldn't see any damage. Nothing was shattered. I phoned the company I bought it from and they said that breakage was probably in the neck of the bulb.

So I ordered a new lamp.

I installed it. It's a very simple procedure. Just 3 screws.

Guess what. It still doesn't work. The lamp LED is still glowing red.

So I ask you. WTF?

As you can see I live 2 hours away from Cape Town so it isn't just simple thing to just take the whole thing to the company again, although that's what we'll now have to do.

What projector is it?
 
Can't find anything on the net relating to the same problem...

A few more questions, is the projector starting up but not lamp?
Are all the fans starting up?
How many hours was the lamp on aprox? Yours should be able to handle 2000.
How hot was it when this appened?

It sounds to me like it might either need a reset to get the projector to use the lamp again, or you have blown some internals due to heat or a faulty unit...

The projector starts up fine. The fans as well.
I've used the projector for say a year and a term during the whole of the mornings so, it ran for a quite a number of hours.
It was on the 10th of December. The aircon wasn't on so it could have been hot. I can't really remember. The humidity isn't really high over here.

But (as I have recently learned) LED lamps doesn't have close tot the brightness required to function in a classroom that still has natural light flowing in.
