Interesting looking test squad for the Proteas. I heard Hudson (?) talking about rewarding the players who had performed well in the domestic season. Good to see fresh faces knocking on the door for places in the final IX. It will keep all players on their toes and performing at their best.

Jeez when will Chanderpaul call it quits?

Surely he must be sick of cricket now?

Bavuma, Abbott and Rabada will most probably be spectators. Although I do have a sneaky suspicion that Abbott might start ahead of Peterson with an all seam attack. Elgar to be used as a spinning option.

SAf Invit XI 44/3 (10.5 ov)

SAf Invit XI RR 4.06
Last 10 ovs 42/3 RR 4.20
Min overs remaining 79.1

The SA Invitation IX are in a rush to score runs and get out. Something has to give here :erm:

SAf Invit XI 57/6 (16.0 ov)

So it looks like wickets will give way to run scoring, as none of the Saffers look keen to graft out an innings. Quite sad, as this is a grand opportunity to get the attention of the selectors for the national side.

Many thanks, McD. I was a little confused. Scorecard is stuck on 88/8 on my feed

Not the best effort from players who should be trying to get themselves noticed.

Agree. Especially with the talks that Stiaan wants to push for the opening bat berth. Then again, with all the rain that was around the pitch must have had a bit of juice in it.

Let's see what happens after WI have batted.

My theory is: Soccer is the sport played mostly by black people, it's a cheap sport. All you need to play is a ball. With bowling, all you need is a ball as well so this is relatively cheap too. To become a batsman, a start up cricket kit with pads and bat will cost you around R1000 which costs a bit more. This is why, IMHO, you will get black bowlers coming through and not batsman.

Disagree. Mates and I could never afford our own cricket bats as kids. We carved our own out of planks.
