My theory is: Soccer is the sport played mostly by black people, it's a cheap sport. All you need to play is a ball. With bowling, all you need is a ball as well so this is relatively cheap too. To become a batsman, a start up cricket kit with pads and bat will cost you around R1000 which costs a bit more. This is why, IMHO, you will get black bowlers coming through and not batsman.
Also disagree. Cricket was and still is massive in the Eastern Cape, even in the deep rural areas."White men's sport." Thus many youth don't follow that course.
Why can't we produce black batsmen and wtf is Themba Bavuma our only hope SA's first black specialist batsman?
