Protests: Alexandra under total shutdown

What does "shutting down" your own neighbourhood achieve? Surely the only people this will adversely affect are the same people in that neighbourhood who are complaining about the service? It's about as logical as burning down the train station to protest poor train service? I'm not being facetious, I genuinely want to understand the logic here.

Actually I was thinking this is a good time to use the ANC Cape Town trick against themselves - sedition.
Then drive it home with a criminal charge of racism.

Despite the media reporting that the shutdown had been halted and the march to Sandton called off for "security reasons", my colleagues who live in Alex tell me the shutdown, at least, is still on.

They complain of a lack of service delivery, shacks etc which are things you take up with your ward councilor.. no luck then with mayor.

Seems very odd they protesting etc instead of following process.. as mentioned seems very political in a stupid way. I’m guessing the mayor is busy reviewing ward involvement etc before going to visit them.. and then will likely tell them if they want change, perhaps change your voting?
 
One of my drivers at work who lives in Alex sent me a video of a taxi driver lying on the floor massive rocks being thrown at his head and body, being hit with planks of wood on the head. His head was literally crushed by the rocks. Sick, disgusting and brutal!

And which your ward councillor can do little about, besides escalate and highlight and bring up on your behalf.
 
Based on reports that the Alexandra community plans to shut down Sandton on Monday we suggest that staff come to work early on Monday. We should consider allowing staff to work from home where possible. Staff should avoid approaching Sandton from areas surrounding Alexandra i.e. Grayston, Marlboro and Woodmead. We will make the BCP site available.

That’s why this country will never move forward , to many people with barbarian mindset.
