@Maestro : Appreciate you sharing some of the details of your contribution in the gaming community and the background that gives you (maybe more) insight to console gaming...
I really do think you have done a superb job with flowit...heard only good things and you are definitely a person referred to when people have hardware failures on the PS3 forums...so all the best, someone's poison (MS & Sony's failure rates) is someone else's opportunity...glad you took the effort to invest time and money in this venture and i know there's tons of gamers that appreciate the service you offer...i know, i bought a YLOD for R1500...and tried the the entire reflowing exercise unsuccessfully...
So all in all, it's really great...i said in my previuos post that I'm certain that you're knowledgeable, a gamer and a good guy, still feel that way, but doesn't change my opinions on certain things...
So, yes, you might see alot of YLOD's and BR failures, but these are also from mostly from earlier models...then we look at the statistics in SA, there are about 90k 360's and about 80k ps3's, so the difference isn't as huge as it is globally, and that might explain why u see a more equated number....
There is no veils when it comes to the failure numbers, there are definitely bands, but we know that the 360 band is in an unacceptable region, ps3 is maybe high (but they do have the defense that they used leading-edge components and technologies that bring reliability issues) and the wii is in a great (single digit) band...so to me, there is no way to even compare any of the 3...
The BR discs are very strong, i know, because I've seen my discs go sliding across a tiled floor or my daughter glide it to and fro across a table top...won't deny that you've seen scratched discs, but we both got no idea what happened, what sort of abuse caused it to get scratched like that....
And i think you concluded aptly...let's enjoy the forum (including other people's opinions) and ignore the bad...i'll fail ...tim does get under my skin, lol, but i'll probably be more relaxed about it...
[EDiT] PTA has a great tekken group..they lan, going to be jhb/pta Tekken lan this month...but understand what you mean not having enough time to commit to Lans...
