No f**king way! And here I was wondering where my SE cellphone came from. I didn't say the PS3 was bankrupting the company, you nob. Sony in general is in a lot of s**t.

The PS3 is a gaming console as well. It has to be able to play Games so it has other stuff like RAM and he Cell.

PS3 is the best BD Player out there as it wont become obsolete. Firmware updates it to BD 2.0 etc. :rolleyes:

Sony shares sink on earnings revision

On Thursday evening Sony revised down its financial outlook for the full year due to lower sales of key products as a result of the slowing economy and the strong Japanese yen. Its net profit outlook for the year from April 2008 to March 2009 was cut by 38 percent to ¥150 billion (US$1.5 billion). And sales for the year were revised down slightly to ¥9 trillion.

All of you argueing about the normal *****. PS3 & Xbox are first and foremost gaming consoles before anything else.

Put both consoles side by side, same HDTV, same games. You will notice one will have far better looking & realistic gfx (not cartoony). Also, one of the consoles has a way superior controller, not one which is a copy paste wireless design of a 10 year old one.
 
Valante, the reality in business is that a company like Sony would run their different enterprises as separate entities. Thus if SCEI (Sony Computer Entertainment Inc.) starts haemorrhaging more money than Sony as a whole would want to absorb, it's a fairly easy step to close it down & cut their losses. Whether the resultant PR nightmare is worth it, we'll have to wait & see...

It's been widely publicised that the PS3 is losing Sony money on each one sold & with a comparatively low attach rate, they're probably nowhere near recovering those losses on software sales.

The PS3 has some brilliant things going for it, but as a business model it smacks of being over-ambitious. It simply costs too much to produce by virtue of including a lot of technology that hasn't matured... BetaMax (also Sony incidently), DeLorean all-aluminium sports car (ala Back to the Future)...

Well everyone has their own opinion about the controller. I for one prefer the PS Controller as that is what I have been using for years. The 360 one is too heavy and bulky for me.:)

and yes, I did mean to say that. The Graphics and controller play a HUGE role in gaming.

UNLIKE THE OTHER BS you going on about (HDD, BD, Longetivity, wifi, yada yada yada). It seems as if your gaming console of choice does everything right except gaming?

Notice I havn't mentioned any names, as I don't really look at that and understand both consoles have their plus points, heck, I will probably own both by the end of the year.
 
wow I left this Thread yesterday Hoping to get some tangible Advise,It kinda Turned into a flame war on the first Page, Lol.It's all good though, I did come to realise through all this fierce rivalry that both consoles will be secured for the next 5 years and that my Favourite Fighting games will in all likelihood appear on either platform in the years to come.

So basically it comes down to the most affordable console :D I think we all know which one that is.

Ahh yes, you must be talking about the Wii. Graphics are s**t. Controller is a TV remote. Don't know why you mentioned BD and HDD though as the Wii doesn't have both :confused: ;)

Sorry to have Valante hi-jack your thread in order to vomit stupidity all over it. He is still struglling keeping himself in check.

If price and pure gaming is major factors then you have to look at the 360.
The arcade is coming in at R1800 at the moment which wil giveyou gaming without too much fuss.
For some more cash, you can get the pro with a hard drive. The hard drive makes it easier for the future with possible installs going to be the order of the day and online gaming will then be a possibility.
Once you have downloaded Arcade games from LIVE, you will start seeing the pleasure that is LIVE.

Online gaming requires a payment but it is minimal.

DLNA is a set of network standards supported by over 36 companies of which Microsoft and Sony are both founding members. As a matter of protocol DLNA is the basis for TVersity, wmp11, orb and every other media streaming application. So saying it's a Sony advantage is just plain doff.
