I blush to say this is all greek to me....

But it's driving me mad. PS5 downloads quite easily, but do you think I can connect to PSN. Tried using app and then scanning QR code. Worked once when suddenly my name appeared. Then server timed out again and was cast out into the wild once more.

I art tarty irritated.... :)

its a network settings, do a custom, keep everything as is, but change your primary dns to 1.1.1.1 and your secondary to 8.8.8.8
that should help with the resolution, it's not psn it's your isp. if it goes t.ts up, swop the dns servers around

hope it helps. you could do this on your router if you want. that would jiggy jig all the devices inn your home

Okay. I actually thought you were talking about my router in the first place. More great news is I tried to log in to it. Seems password or username is incorrect. I have to laugh :)

Got super excited when couriers stopped in front of my door thinking it's a miracle and my PS5 gets delivered today.

Nope.

Instead it's the Pulse 3D headset I ordered from Koodoo on Tuesday. It traveled from Gauteng and got here faster than the PS5 which shipped from Cape Town which is 400km away. :(

Hmm. Was in Mile Morales and the console just shut itself off completely.

Got it started again and said it needed to repair the USB drive I have connected (it was busy updating PS4 games on there in the background). Now I'm just at black screen and holding the PS button in to go to the home screen just make a little sound and shows a no-entry symbol at the top right.

Not a great start but I'm going to shut it off and remove the USB drive, maybe it's faulty and not handling those faults very well.
It's a known widespread issue with both consoles...

So I streamed about 8 hours of Spider-Man: Miles Morales on the PS5 today.

There were only 2 hiccups. One where the console had a hard shutdown, and once where the game froze for maybe 2 seconds. Other than that, it’s been smooth sailing.

I thought all the reviews regarding the controller being the most next gen item in the PS bundle were over the top, but I’m glad I was wrong. Running through Astro’s Playroom, experiencing all the feedback the controller can provide, and how nuanced it actually is. I remember reading that you could close your eyes and still know what kind of surface you were walking on, and they were right.

As for navigating the console, I’m still getting the hang of that. Long vs short presses on the PS button, viewing cards and achievements. All new, but a welcome change.

As I don’t have a headset anymore, and am now using the Sennheiser HD 660S, the 3D audio sounds great, and the controller’s microphone is surprisingly good for what it is. My stream chat did state that there was an echo from the TV, so bare that in mind if you’ll be using voice chat while using your TV audio.

Overall, I am very happy with the PS5, and I’m sure all those who have spent the last week with their Series S/X are very happy too.

Watched a bit of that before I had to go fetch the Mrs. Didn't even realise you were on console. Nice dude.

Since it's the only thing I have so far, some thoughts on the Pulse 3D headset as tested on PS4:

Played 2 hours of Destiny 2 and these sound great. Better than the Playstation Gold headset I have and it's way more comfortable. I have a big head and the Gold quickly became uncomfortable and too warm for me to wear. The Pulse 3D feels much lighter and the earcups fit better. After 2 hours of playing my ears were a little warm, but nothing close to the uncomfortable heat I experience with the Gold. Works great for people that wear glasses. Definitely one of the more comfortable headsets I've used.

Has anyone who bought from Game got theirs yet?
Nothing yet. Just says dispatched since last week and sent email Monday and opened a ticket yesterday morning with no responses. Game PS5 page does say it will be dispatched from 19th though. :cautious:

Update: you can get tracking info.

From an awesome guy. baasgene

For those with game orders, go to Dawn Wing tracking and enter G followed by your order number.

I'll call dawn wing tomorrow and try to organize collection though

Godspeed!

Almost didn't make it.

Waited for the new TV to be delivered too. Courier pitched at 7PM which made it too late to try to set it up because I need to have the thing wall mounted.

At 8PM I couldn't hold off unboxing and hooking up the PS5 to my current 1080P TV. Transferred Destiny 2 from PS4 to PS5 in 16 minutes. Messed around for about half an hour, didn't see huge improvement. Loading is faster, but not close to instant due to online nature of the game. Did notice viewing distance was improved without objects being streamed in as you get closer which was far more noticeable on the PS4. Had some wonky shadows until I discovered I hadn't put the TV into game mode for the HDMI input from the PS5.

Then quickly wanted to check out Astro's Playroom. What ab experience. Lost track of time and got to bet at midnight. Dualsense has loads of potential.

Q70T got delivered late yesterday and managed to install it today. Anyone have some recommended settings for using the TV with the PS5?

Sony has confirmed it will add Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) – a key visual feature of Xbox Series X / S – to PlayStation 5.

The feature, which is designed to reduce of eliminate frame tearing and judder in high-framerate games, will be added to PlayStation 5 via a future firmware update, Sony said in an updated system FAQ.

“After a future system software update, PS5 owners will be able to use the VRR feature of compatible TVs when playing games that support VRR,” it said. A modern television with HDMI 2.1 is required to use VRR.

Although VRR is supported by Microsoft’s last-generation consoles, the feature has become even more important for next-gen games which support framerates of 60fps and above.

@Splinter , did you come right with your PS5? I hope you did. It's the worst when one has issues with new hardware.

I had problems with my Series X controller but then just before I was about to return it it suddenly worked right. Hopefully the same happened to you.

When looking at all the comparisons coming out, it seems that history repeated itself and PS5 is the clear winner(again). Maybe that fast ssd and architecture that so many dismissed is coming to the party now? Especially when you look at the difference in textures in performance mode?

I thought of only upgrading in a year or so but maybe will surprise my boy when stocks have settled.
So what budget 4k tv will be sufficient? Don't want to spend to much on tv for his room
