This will probably follow the same path as the PSVR2. Crazy expensive.
Had this be console be capable of 120fps on fidelity mode, then I would have bought this immediately.
It will probably sell about the same as the PS4 pro.
You all need to remember these devices aren’t aimed at the masses like the base models, the pro's only make up around 10-15% of total sales in the gen.
When PS4 Pro dropped for $400 they marked the og PS4 down from $350 to $300 and that help push it. (THink final tally was 5 PS4's for every PS4 Pro sold.
Do not see the same happening this time round, In fact I was actually hoping for a price drop on the slim, but sadly Sony said no![]()

These things seem to be going against current economic conditions with these prices. Plus games are so expensive to make, and now you're giving more emphasis to visual fidelity with performance to match... I wonder if the price of Pro games will be more than OG games (don't think PS4 Pro games were priced more)? And consoles rising in price...
Hopefully they're not selling at a loss per Pro unit.
Sony should've made an affordable hybrid with sensible specs (1080p at 60FPS). Something for the mass market. Priced at $300-350.

There were no PS4 Pro-specific games.Sony still with the:

the Playstation 5 PRO would at least include the Duelsense Edge and the 3D Pulse Headset by default.

My sister's girlfriend who works at Sony Forward Planning: Next-gen division (JP) just told my sister who told me to expect the PS6 without any controller (they still in two minds about no power supply) for $799 in 2028/29They could have at least shipped it with the pro controller
In South Africa, we get our gaming products from the UK. This means you need to convert the price in Pounds. Shipping and Duties are added to this total. You then need to add distribution margin and reseller margins. Lastly, you add 15% VAT.
Calculating duties is the tough one because this rate depends on the tech. Shipping costs also change across air and sea. We usually get PlayStation hardware by sea because it is cheaper. However, it also often results in delays.
So PS5 Pro – £699.99 (R16,354 @ R23,36 on 11 September) + 10% duties = R17,989 + R500 shipping = R18,489 + R1,000 margins = R19,489 + 15% VAT = R22,412.
Of course, this isn’t set in stone. Shipping will likely cost less but not by much. Margins are also versatile depending on how much money the distributor wants to make and give to retailers as profit. You also can’t directly convert the Pound to Rand without taking into account other fees involved in international purchases.
Another quick way to convert this would also be to simply calculate the current PS5 console price to the current Pound and take that exchange and times it by the PS5 Pro asking price. So PS5 Disc Edition cost R13,999 / £479.99 = R29.16. R29.16 x £699,99 = R20,411.
This R20,411 is definitely better than the other calculation but it is based on a product that costs £220 less than the PS5 Pro. So VAT, import duties and shipping have been calculated for £479 and not £699. The PS5 Pro likely weighs more so it costs more to ship.
I would say the PS5 Pro could be listed in South Africa at anywhere between R21,000 and R22,499.
