PS5

My 1440p 60Hz desktop monitor. I have configured the resolution in the PS5 system settings.

Thanks. Although the console has been underwhelming if I'm honest, I'm still glad I bought it. I feel a lot better about my Series X now. I find the Xbox controller more comfortable, I hugely prefer the use of AA batteries that last much longer and take a few seconds to swap out, the operating system is more intuitive to me etc.

The PS5 will do just fine for playing console exclusives. It's even great for PS4 games, as a bunch have been remastered or optimised to play at 60 fps. And while I prefer the Xbox Series controller over the DualSense, the DualSense is easily more comfortable to me compared to the DualShock 4.

All the installed games show the PS5 logo when hovering over their icons so I assume the correct version is installed. I'm still focusing on God of War, but when I return to Forbidden West I'll reserve judgement for when I'm finally out in the open. Perhaps that's when the visuals can be properly appreciated.

Dunno man, so far Ragnarok is pretty freakin' epic imo. I don't know if I'd say it's better than its predecessor, but I'm having about the same amount of fun with it. The combat is more chilled, the dialogue is as good as ever, the story is compelling etc.

It's really, really good. Microsoft desperately needs games like this coming out of its first party studios.

Yeah

I enjoyed GoW so much (PC release) I'm considering dusting off my mothballed PS4 just to play GoW:R.

There are few games that grab me enough for me to actually finish it - this year only GoW, Ori (both) and Desperados III made that cut for me.

Bro it's the same concept if you charging your AA batteries unless you using cheap batteries(won't last very long) which still doesn't make sense

Really glad to hear such. Need to finish my play-through of Far Cry 6 ( committed to finishing games if I start them) and then I’ll start on GoW and eventually Days Gone which I’m also getting feedback to try again after the initial launch issues have now been resolved.

PS5 isn’t all bad but Xbox seems to be a better media system also. Can’t get Dolby Vision working properly for some reason.

Still putting my thoughts together on PSN+

Naa PS5 controller battery does not last. Had to buy a dock + sparce controller, and have to remember to charge my controller after play. Also PS5 controller do not last a full 10 hour of play. Xbox controller with Energizer rechargeable's last at least a week of play and I only swap out its batteries every Friday.
Yeah. Xbox controller batteries definitely last longer.

Once you have a dock and a spare controller, PS5 is much more convenient though. Controller on a dock vs swopping batteries (I always feel like one day I am going to break the series controller battery cover) - but this is cheating, and is a “first world” QOL improvement, as it costs close to R2000 extra to do this.

I am still super happy with my PS5 purchase, because all the games I have played have been epic.

I was also totally happy with the Series X, it just became redundant when I upgraded my GPU.

Of course xbox controllers last longer, it’s basically an empty shell. PS5 controllers have more features and my personal preference perhaps, but I hate faffing around with batteries.

There is that too, far superior controller - technologically

I do kind of wish the PS5 layout was the same as Series/Switch Pro controller (left thumb stick and d-pad)

I feel that my Series controllers are just going to gather dust for eternity, because I don’t want my brain to keep having to relearn controllers, so will probably just play PC games with a PS5 controller going forward

Ironically I turn most of that tech off.

Don't use Vibration on Xbox or PS5 controller.
Also adaptive trigger is ok @ 1st but after a while it does put extra strain into playing games. Esp after hours of swinging from building to building in Spiderman.

Battery still doesn't last.... :(
I’m going to play Miles Morales next, once I am finished Iki Island, but I can totally see how the adaptive triggers would be annoying in that game

I see quite a few of our Xbox brothers have been tempted over to the dark side...

There's always this- link

The PS5 controller has more hardware packed in, so I'm not surprised the battery life isn't that great.

Is cheaper, comes with 2 batteries and the dock also works with PS5 controllers.

I prefer AA's as I have a nitecore charger but I have

For my PS5 controllers.
Same, but you know it's bad for the environment. My only gripe with the PS5 controller is the built-in lithium battery once that goes to ****, you're screwed...then have to buy another. Do need both Sony and Microsoft to use a better type of joystick, though.

Still using the same 3 sets I bought back in 2020 with my Console... so its not like I am using hundreds....

Can do the same as what I did with my PS3
just last year.....

The previous post was my gripe with AA's. Rather have the store do it for me, but thanks.

The Ori games and Desperados III are awesome! Check out Shadow Tactics if you haven't played it already, very similar to Desperados and from the same dev.

Our tastes might be quite similar. I'm very much not into the popular shooters like COD and Battlefield or the gazillion battle royale online games that seem to dominate these days. I'll take a single player, story-driven adventure any day though.

I'm comparing these two scenarios:

PS5: controller frequently runs out of battery and needs to be plugged in while you continue playing.
Series X: battery life is vastly superior, when I get a low battery warning I take a few seconds to swap out the rechargeable AA batteries and continue playing wirelessly.

So for PS5 the only comparable solution is to buy an extra controller so that you can swap between them constantly. Which I'm not particularly keen to buy.

I'm very unimpressed with the PSN+ Deluxe Super edition I've got. The naming is stupid and confusing, perusing the games is hilariously unintuitive due to how they're segmented, I couldn't even find some games that I know are in the service (and eventually found them via some curated lists), and the list of games isn't even that impressive. Once you chop out the filler that must have cost Sony almost nothing, there are scant few premium titles available.

The fact that Sony doesn't even throw in first-party titles like Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection, that Sackboy game, the Ratchet & Clank PS5 game, Gran Turismo 7, both Last of Us games, even at the highest tier of subscription, is disgraceful imo. The latest MLB: The Show is available on Game Pass but not in Sony's service, as a Sony-published title.

Anyone seen a PS 5 remote on sale ?
Koodoo tends to also have the best controller prices. Currently just R100 off though. Black Friday is coming if you can wait. I'll be surprised to see a further price cut on a standalone controller, but there could be some good bundles, like some combination of headset + remote + controller.

My PS5 controllers last plenty long enough on a charge. If they die during a session then it's a sign that I have been playing too long and should take a break

I much prefer the internal battery too as opposed to the AA solution, I have those play and charge battery kits for my Xbox controllers.
