Maybe we get the back catalogue - I'd be happy with that

And yet Jim Ryan still wasn't happy with the offer from Microsoft to keep it on Playstation after the agreement period for another 2-3 years. I don't think they will ever make it fully exclusive. It wouldn't make financial sense. The agreement ends after the next Warzone and COD releases. So it means that they can bring all COD games to GP after that agreement ends around end of 2023 into 2024. But still keep COD titles multi platform into the future. And make money from both GP and Sony sales.

I think we need to ask the question of what would Sony have done if they bought AB or just bought the two COD studios. Would it have stayed multi platform too?

All this seems to be focused on just COD. Which is understandable. But there are many other studios/games that fall under this buyout.

What has stopped MS from doing that up to now then? I do not think the deal falling through will change much in that regard.

I think change in leadership. And MS throwing some of its financial weight behind Xbox this generation. They seem to be a lot more aggressive and competitive this generation. A stark contrast compared to last gen indeed. Which is obviously putting Sony under pressure. The chip shortage and console price increase hasn't helped that. Except maybe fixed supply shortages because they suddenly started shipping a lot more units right after the price bump. Just in time for GoW and the holiday season...

To be honest, Sony should pray that the deal go through. Cause if it doesn't, it will signal to Microsoft that to compete it should play the same game ie: pay for exclusives and $70 billion that has to be spent, can buy an awful lot of exclusivity.

With Microsoft's piggy bank it can out bid Sony on any and all 3rd party games.

Lets not rehash all this again. Sony bought studios and made great games for its console. MS bought studios and made crap. Hence them spending tens of billions now buying existing IP to turn into exclusives.

But if you want to debate this further, rather take it to the xbox vs PS5 thread and stop spamming this one.

Where is the cheapest and most reliable place to buy a ps5 digital console?
GAME4U is selling them for R11000. They have shops around the country where you can just walk into the shop, buy the console, and walk out the shop with a ps5 console in your hands.... or you can do a "hit n run' if you so wish.

Koodoo has the Edge controller available for pre-order at R4400. Release date is 26 Jan 2023. Hefty price, but equivalent to the XBox top-end controller.

Damn that’s cheaper than I thought it would be! Very nice

Damn. Problem is I need to replace my second controller now.

Yeah, I like my toys, but I'm nowhere near being a good enough gamer to justify the need for the Edge.
Look, I am using the Xtreme Rise 4 kit on my controller, and those paddles and extra buttons do make a difference in playing ... but damn, that price!

Ah well, lets wait and see what the reviews say. In the meantime, I will get a replacement.

PlayStation 5 Has Passed 25 Million Units Sold, Sony Producing More Than Expected

Sony has shipped more than 25 million PlayStation 5 consoles to date as the company has significantly stepped up production.

Revealed during its latest earnings results, Sony sold a further 3.3 million PS5s in the three month period leading up to September 30, equalling the amount it shifted during the same period in 2021.

Sony has therefore sold around 5.7 million PS5s since the beginning of this financial year (April 2022), leaving the company in somewhat of an uphill battle if it's to reach its target of selling 18 million consoles by March 2023.

"We recognize that demand from customers for the PS5 continues to be strong as the actual sales situation at retail stores in the U.S. is such that, in September, it took an average of 17.5 hours to sell out of 100 thousand units after their arrival," Sony's earnings presentation reads.

God of War Ragnarok will introduce changes to the difficulty levels

  • Give me a Story
  • Give me a Grace
  • Give me Balance
  • Give me No Mercy
  • Give me God of War
In God of War Ragnarok the highest level will be a bit more balanced and at the same time will increase as players progress through the game world. At the same time, players are to be given the option to lower the difficulty at any point in the game, if they feel that the game is too much of a challenge for them. The catch is that once you switch to a lower level, you will no longer be able to go back to the highest level – unless we start the whole game all over again. Switching between the other four levels is to be completely free.

Super excited for this next week. Why they decided on a mid-week release is beyond me...guess i'll be a bit tired at work on Thursday :D
