PS5

Oh shyte, I have found a place with LG OLED stock coming in.

So folks, C1 or G1 for you? Looking online, C1 seems the wiser choice. Also, it has a stand, unlike the G1 which has to be wall mounted. Which I don't want.

Answered yourself

Xbox Boss Praises Sony’s Blockbuster Games, Acknowledges Microsoft Hasn’t Competed With Sony on That Front

Xbox Game Studios executive Matt Booty has said that Sony’s first-party studios have done a “fantastic” job with their blockbuster franchises, and has acknowledged that Microsoft hasn’t competed with Sony on that front. In an interview with Kinda Funny Games (via Video Games Chronicle),

1st part of fixing a problem is acknowledging that you have one, unlike Sony that is turning a blind eye to GamePass.

I'm not saying they must directly compete, more like rolling out PS Now to more countries (cough RSA) and include PS Plus & PS Now into a single bundle Example:
PS Plus = $10
PS Now = $10
PS Ultimate = $15 (Includes both)

Oh gawd, GamePassJohn strikes again....

what size C1 are you looking at?

aaah ok, i see IC Menlyn has stock of the 55''

Thanks - but I have my hooks into either a 65" G1 or C1 already; just need to make up mind about which. Researching online yesterday it seems the difference is small, and generally they say the extra price of the G1 is not worth the relatively small panel brightness difference. But the funny thing is, the price differential between the two here in SA is actually a lot less than overseas.

So, if I could have got a stand to go with it (which I can't, other than the gallery stand at R6500) I would have gone with the G1. But as it is, the C1 suits me better as it will plop onto my existing plasma stand quite happily.

Btw, Tafelburg Furnishers in Bellville has two PS5 units left for sale.

Bundled disk version - 1 controller (in total), Returnal and Spiderman - R14999.

Is there any downside in taking the digital version above the disk version?

I do understand that I wont play my PS4 disks anymore.

I am just concerned that the ps5 games are so much larger in size that you will be able to add only about 5 titles before you need to remove some games from the HDD

I have a Digital Only version and have yet to care about it, but then again I last bought a physical game back in 2007. Hell even my PS2 been modded with a 1TB Sata SSD so I dont need to swap disks.

I do also have a Xbox so I can bargain hunt between the 2 eco systems in case I can get games cheaper on the so called "dark side".

Just note you will not be able to buy cheap second hand games or do the trade-in game. <- something I avoid because of bad experience on scratched media in the past.

Other than that is game on as usual, its not like old where physical = no need to install/download.
Thanks for the insight.
I rarely play old PS4 disc games these days and I dont trade in so I dont think I will miss the disc versions I have now.

I just found that sometimes it is about R200 - R300 cheaper to get the disc version from Takealot or BT than from the PS store.

Just to add why I did what I did.

I bought a Xbox Series S in RSA for R6900 on launch and a PS5 DE in NZ for around R6700. I had immediate access to current gen games (and GamePass) on my Xbox while I waited for family to bring my PS5.

End of the day it only cost me around R14000 to have access to both eco-systems. Some people here paid that for just a PS5 Disc version. ;)
LOL it will almost be cheaper to get a flight to NZ get the ps5 and come back with a vacation and a ps5 :)

Bought the DE earlier this month. Was nice to be able to just plug the external HDD with all my PS4 games and play. Reserved the PS5's SSD for the PS5 games. Play and delete.

In terms of downloading games... If no Fibre or uncapped LTE/5G I really wouldn't consider DE.

Takealot had the PS5 digital edition for R9,999 yesterday.

Seems a bit too good to be true considering that nobody else has had stock close to that price for a while? I ordered one just after midnight and this morning it's out of stock. Do you reckon this was an error or legit? Hoping I don't have to get a refund.
