PS5

If it looks properly current gen after the patch, I think I'll give this game another run-through on Series X. I've played it 3 or 4 times already - possibly my favourite game of all time.

Can probably expect a big graphical setting boost from last gen consoles. Quick load times and much smoother frame rate will breath some life back into this gem of a game.

XSX/PS5: 2160P@60fps?
XSS: 1080P@60fps (with identical settings)

Still prefer my PS5 over the Xbox! The only time I really use the Xbox is when it has a game on game pass which I'd have to pay for on the PS or if Digital Foundry had found the Xbox was a better platform to play it on

The Xbox is great for older games, started a Dragon Age play-through also a while ago.

No offence taken, because everyone seems to talk nonsense as far as you're concerned.

I'm using a colour accurate, 1440p, 32" professional monitor that cost around R15k a few years ago. Hardly a crappy monitor. All my games look amazing on it, and I have a 4K TV in the living room anyway for comparison.

Everything has an opportunity cost. I should have no need for a second controller for my PS5 so buying one sounds dumb to me. My Xbox doesn't need two controllers.
Dude, you calling GoWR "PS4 quality" shows how you are blowing it out of your rear end. It's a visually stunning game. End of.

That you don't need a second controller in case a friend drops in doesn't surprise me.

Try harder. The visuals are extremely similar between PS5 and PS4 Pro:

So now you've gone from PS4 quality to "extremely close" to PS4 Pro quality...and expect me to watch something that clearly states there are a number of spoilers in it. Yeah right.

Try less hard.

No s**t they're not literally identical. The whole point was that they're similar enough that you'd be hard-pressed to even notice a difference without them side by side, which is what the video shows. And the spoilers are virtually non-existent.

Why must it be that everywhere you go, whether here or other forums, toxicity is guaranteed to follow? Just be a lurker instead if you have nothing nice or sensible to say ever.

OMG. Are we crying into our milk now? The game is visually amazeballs. Yes or no?

And rather than pleading for self-censorship from me, why don't you go try and make a friend.

Yes, its a PS4 game. You can play it right now on (drumroll) PS4.

Looks slightly better than it did way back in 2018. Its nothing special at all.

And you are?

But duh, yes you can play it on PS4. Hence the PS4 and PS5 versions. And if it looks better than it did when it looked spectacular back then, well I say that's very special.

Or are you also watching it on an old PC monitor?

From what I've read so far they worked closely with the guy who did the huge 3rd party texture asset upgrade for PC so expect some crossover there.

Additionally there is some implementation of ray-tracing as well, but it's not clear for what yet. Bumps to framerate/res are a given.

I truly hope they give us a multitude of modes to play with.

Your mom.

And by your defensive attitude stretching pages whereas everyone else is simply stating their views, you are the only special one here.

BOY!

My mom. That's sooo original. You should write the story line for the next GoW.

As for being defensive, I'm just sorting out nonsense that is being posted here - especially your epic fail about it being a PS4 game.....DUH (again).

It's both, genius. That's how a business makes money with tens of millions of PS4 consoles still out there.

You are no authority on anything. What you are is just another internet random with his own views. Just like other posters have their own views. See how that works?

The difference here is you are an aggressive, defensive shill whilst everyone else can very objectively discuss and move on even if they do not agree.

Listen, God of War Ragnarok was built to run on 9 year old hardware. It was not built to showcase PS5 capabilities. It was not built for next gen from the ground up. Its the same 2018 engine tweaked. Its literally reused assets.

Better examples of current gen visual capabilities was named on the prior page. If you do not understand this simple fact, then I don't know what else to tell you.

Oh grow up. What you say applies to you just as much, Mr. Hypocrite.

Have you actually played the PS5 version on a decent flat screen? Say an LG OLED? It's stunning. Unlike Brynn whose old PC monitor for one doesn't have HDR - which is most probably one of the most significant leaps in visual technology in the last few years.

Go read the reviews and comments from individuals on this internet you speak of, and come back and tell me the visuals are not being praised.

Then again, I'm sure you are too pre-occupied thinking up some brilliant comment about my mom to do so. :)

PS - I notice you and Brynn are the ones getting personal, all the while accusing me of poor behavior. It's amusing how blind you are.

So after buying the 86inch LG Nano Cell TV, I need the PS5 as well, so hoping some come around at a lekker price for black friday.

Which games on Xbox are "next gen" for comparison? Because all Series X games can play on the Series S which has less graphical power than 6 year old PS4 Pro.

I use a 65" 4K/60 TV in SDR most of the time because this budget model's HDR isn't bright enough, and I am STILL absolutely blown away by how good modern games are on it.

I have both the PS5 and Series X and they are both wonderfully powerful machines. Neither feel like my old PS4 or Xbox One.
