PS5

I see Cold War available on PS Plus. Any recommendations on a decent wireless KB+Mouse combo?

Wireless because my PS5 sits directly under the TV in the lounge.

PS5 consoles have been discounted across Europe, leading to speculations that the rumored PS5 Slim (or PS5 with detachable disc drive) will indeed launch in 2023.

PS5 Is €100 Off in Some European Countries, Suggesting Hardware Revision Is Coming

Sony is not struggling to sell PS5 consoles this year, as it’s been breaking records all over the world since the hardware became more readily available. It’s conspicuous, then, that the traditional disc-based unit is actually on sale in some major European territories, including Spain and Portugal. And this discount isn’t a small one either: it’s €100, meaning you can currently get the Blu-ray version of the console for around the same price as its digital counterpart.

While the sale seems pretty specific to certain countries, the big question here is why would PlayStation reduce the price of a very popular product? Many believe that it’s related to the rumoured detachable disc drive model that’s been a strong source of speculation all year, and is apparently scheduled to launch in September. It does make some degree of sense that the Japanese giant would look to clear out old stock before introducing the new model.

The unit with a detachable disc drive will attempt to unify Sony’s manufacturing process, allowing it to produce both flavours of its new-gen console on the same production line. Furthermore, it promises to provide consumers with more flexibility, as those who choose to purchase a system without a disc drive will still be able to pick one up separately later down the line. Thus, it seems like a smart step for the platform holder in this increasingly digital age.

It’s unlikely the company will announce the hardware revision until right before its release date, as it won’t want to temporarily impede sales over the summer. These discounts across Europe do suggest something is afoot, however, and may become more widespread as we lurch closer to the crucial holiday season.

For those with a ps5 and a 120hz tv, could you please test so.ething for me?
I would really appreciate an answere to these 2 questions.

If the ps5 is set to output at 120hz, does it remain at 120hz when launching any streaming apps like Netflix or crunchyroll or does it force the ps5 back to 60hz? I know all ps5 apps output at 60p but most high refresh rate tv's these days have stutter when watching low fps content due to their faster response time. This is fix on pc by just outputting at 120hz so just wondering is the ps5 does the same even if the signal is only 60hz.

If VRR is selected, does it remain on when playing ps4 back compat games even if VRR isn't actually working? I know VRR doesn't work with ps4 games buy my TV has a really bad case of double images, flicker and ghosting in 30 fps games without VRR enabled. So I doesn't need to work but just remain active on a TV level.

Is this a good deal in terms of Read/Write speed for PS5?

PS5 requires at least 5000MB/s afaik. So that's perfectly fine, and very nice price also.

The ADATA I use is similar:

- Up to 7,400 MB/s Sequential Read Speed
- Up to 6,800 MB/s Sequential Write Speed

I would highly recommend it, don't have to move things around anymore!

Hope I can pick up one for a bargain later this year, disc version a no brainer with shops closes or clearing out stock you get rediculous sales on discs every now and then.

PS5 Console Discounts Set to Expand to USA and UK, It's Claimed

Select European countries like Spain and Portugal have recently been enjoying discounts of up to €100 on PS5 systems, but a new claim from PS Plus leaker billbil-kun states the sale price will be expanded to other countries soon. While the leaker doesn't know when the promotion will begin, they've posted the sort of discounts UK, USA, and German residents can look forward to.

According to billbil-kun, the following PS5 sale prices will come into effect:

UK£479.99£404.99£75
USA$499.99$449.99$50
Germany€549.99€474.99€75

Of course, Sony did increase the price of a PS5 across the UK and Europe nearly a year ago, but the reported discounts would make the console cheaper than it was prior to the price hike. The sale only appears to cover the standard PS5 system with a disc drive; the PS5 digital edition isn't included. This offer will be available on the PlayStation Direct site as well as retailers like Amazon, Target, and GAME, the leaker claims.

PS5 Pro Release Date Plans And Console Details

The PlayStation 5 (PS5) Pro is aiming for a November 2024 release date.

According to a new report from Key To Gaming, the PS5 Pro, codenamed “Project Trinity”, is already having demo events held to showcase the improvements. It’s also stated that the “majority” of studios will receive development kits by late November 2023.

As far as specs are concerned, those, according to the report have been tough to obtain. However, two things that we do know are that the PS5 Pro will feature 18,000 MT/s memory and 30 WGP (workgroup processor).

Performance targets for the PS5 include improved frames per second (FPS) as well as better FPS stability performance at 4K resolution, an 8K “performance mode”, and accelerated ray tracing.

The last thing mentioned in the report is that the PS5 Pro is likely to be the last major hardware release from Sony for the current generation. After that, the focus is expected to shift to the development of the PlayStation 6.
