PS5

Oh, fluck it. Now it's my M.2 SSD that's acting up. PS5 says it tried to repair it; can't and needs to reformat. Reformat seems to be stuck at 25%.

Might be because I never put a heatsink on my 2TB Samsung.....oh, well, I'll pretend it wasn't me.

Have you tried reseating it? But yeah, a heatsink would be a good idea.

My PS5 has also been overheating; I did a dust clean before but needed a specific screwdriver to do a deeper clean as it was very clogged up (the pet is a very dusty creature - literally).

Got a multi screwdriver head set from Takealot so now I will attempt both this afternoon when things have cooled down a bit.

Does your PS5 shut down during use? Sounds the the heatsink is the actual issue. Try using the PS5 without the heatsink for a while.

It gives me a message that it is too hot and I must shut down, so that's what I do.

I have watched videos from TronixFix and a common issue is the liquid metal on the APU sometimes forms a dry spot.

Hopefully not that's as then you need to take the entire console apart, and probably buy some liquid metal to reapply

I had to take my M.2 SSD out to start my PS5 - think it is fried. The funny thing is, all the games on my PS5 SSD were gone - had no installed games in my library. So currently only have Baldurs Gate loaded on the PS5.

Need to get a new M.2 SSD - and heatsink!

I think I caused the issue by not dusting properly the first time - I didn't take a hoover to the two vents.

Anyone’s PS5/PS App not updating play time?

Eg. I've actually got about 20 hours in this game (according to the “quit to title” screen)

Hi guys any specials on the PS5 Plus sub?
Sony is giving a big "f@#k" you to loyalists, ensuring we do not get any discounts on the sub, except maybe if you a new sub. Their last discount only applied to new sign ups, the last time I checked

Loyalists?

As in long time Ps+ subscriber no matter what, loyalists

Don't be silly. It's a concept called willing buyer, willing seller. If I thought it was too much for what I got out of it, I simply wouldn't pay.

To think that people who pay this is out of "loyalty" is just plain dumb.

Yeah discounts are not owed. They're free to use it to get new customers onto their platform. If you want to continue then pay...

Interesting to see them investing into a CT based studio. Looks like a mobile studio in any case.

The Japanese consumer electronics and gaming giant has invested an undisclosed sum into Carry1st, a video game studio based in Cape Town, South Africa, via its Sony Innovation Fund venture arm, Carry1st told CNBC exclusively.

Very interesting. I think this is where Sony has had the edge over the giant that is MS. They are flexible and innovative. And generally seem to listen to the folk on the factory floor.

For example, and I'm not trying to start a war with the Xbox folk, reading their comments it seems Starfield was released way before it was polished to the gem it should have been.

In other words, the suits dictate stuff in MS because, whatever.

Sony understands the only way they can survive against the MS billions is to let the product be the best it can be - and look outside the box.
