PSA: Sickbeard is out, Sonarr is in.

Can Sonarr or Sickrage set a category per show?
This is my only gripe with Sickbeard - I want to prioritise one particular show so that SAB grabs it first. But SB only uses 1 category when it sends to SAB. If I could set a different category for that 1 show then I could Force it in SAB.

Yeah but what do you do if a download fails?
Manually go to an indexer, look for a different nzb, send it to sab, then when its downloaded manually rename and move into series folder?

Nah, it's better to just take 20 minutes and get your shows into Sonarr. No more failed downloads.
No more GF waiting by the TV for me to manually get the latest GoT cause the other failed.

You even have a calendar to track episodes grabbed/etc.

Green = Downloaded
Purple = in SAB.
Red = Missing
Blue = Unaired

Nice way to see what's going on.

I honestly cannot remember the last time I had a failed download using SB. And a failed download is rarely, if ever, SB's fault. It downloads what it finds on the indexers I tell it to go look at.

Yes there are irritations here and there, but the overall luxury of waking up and seeing all those episodes ripped during the night, makes up for it.

I did install Sonar, but didn't really like it.

I thought I was the only one using it until I saw this thread now

I've been using it for the last 6 months and can definitely say that it is miles ahead of Sickbeard

hmm...maybe I should put in the effort

I'll have to check that there isn't a broken install lying there though

(I tried a while back and didn't follow through :o )

If you've done a Sickbeard install you will know how to install Sonarr.
In fact Sonarr is way simpler, there are no post processing scripts or none of that shlt.

Sonarr > Settings > Indexers. Add your NZB indexers.
Sonarr > Settings > Download Client. Add SABnzbd as downloader.

Boom, done.

Edit: HERE IS A NOOB PROOF TUTORIAL, If you are still lost.

buggerit millenium hand and shrimp

/off to install Sonarr...

How do I get Sonarr not to put the year in the episode name?

I do not want to have to rename all my folders so that I don't end up with 2 folders for each series nor do I want to rescan my entire drive with kodi after renaming for the sake of conformity.

Edit

It wants to do:

Series Folder Example: Series Title (2010)
Single Episode Example: Series Title (2010) - 01x01 - Episode Title (1)

I do not want the stuff in Bold, how do I make it go away?

Firstly, if you scan your series directory, it will use YOUR folder names.
I did a test download and it created a new directory for an existing show - I'm pretty sure it was a case of "and" vs "&" though.

Anyone know the URL for using newshost?

You can scan your existing series, then select the ones you want - is that selection what you're referring to?

yea, pressed + 97 times (what is currently in my SB series folder).

It does look snazzy though, will wait and see how it does.

Yeah that was my only headache with Sonarr, needing to "verify" that the shows it finds are correct.
The hard part is now over! :D

Just remember, something in Sonarr that is "monitored" is like sickbeards "wanted" function. unmonitored basically means "skipped".
That's the only thing you need to get used to coming from sickbeard.

I hope they are all "Unmonitored" by default :)

Noticed it picked up everything sickbeard was busy with all on it's own.
