If Bloemfontein Celtic was sold for R50 million (obviously we need to consider that the owner was desperate to sell and might have took any offer he received), how much would that make Chiefs, Pirates, and Sundowns worth? R500 million? A billion?

Just to break it down for perspective, the status of being in the PSL is worth a guaranteed R30m a year in the PSL grants, a potential of at least R1.2m for a team like Celtic that has the potential of finishing in the top 8, another potential of R800k for participating in the top 8.

There's also the potential of claiming the Q innovation quarterly prizes worth R1.5m for finishing any quarter of the PSL season with the most points.

That's just the basic guaranteed money and potential earnings for the PSL status, excluding winning actual trophies, stadium gate takings when we have supporters, sponsorships, the value of the players in the squad and other things I could have missed.

So I think looking at the brands of the big 3 there is nothing unrealistic about a billion rands.

They were not bad yesterday though, they just need to get one or two goalscorers and they will be okay. Judas Iscariot scored a magnificent goal yesterday, no idea what you have to do in the PSL to get a look from the big teams, the guy looks like a perfect striker to me, big, mobile, good with the ball on his feet, good with his head, I rated him more lethal than Kutumela.

I think that many clubs take in less in ticket sales than stadium rental costs.

Also, your numbers are only revenue side. That money isn't guaranteed unless the club can put a team on the field. You need to look at player costs and travel. PSL teams seem to really cut costs on travel, clubs travel by bus between Gauteng and anywhere but Cape Town, Durban and PE.

Yes, I did not factor in the player's and the team costs just like I did not include the actual value of the players, sponsorships and revenue from the brand, merchandise and many other things.
 
Talking about traveling by bus, there is a legend that the great Jomo Sono is not only a coach, team manager, CEO, chairman and the sole shareholder but he used to also be the bus driver when the team was traveling, talk about a man of many talents.

Safranko from Sundowns is actually playing actively for Slovakia internationally. Normally the European players who come to the PSL are either journeymen who nobody has heard off as are most of the coaches that come to coach in the PSL from Europe. It's almost as though some owners just hire any Tom, Dick and Harry from Europe to come and coach their team just to boast that they have a "European coach".

Slovakia are a good football country and this guy could have easily stayed in Europe and joined decent teams.

This proves that Sundowns do mean business.

I wonder what’s so difficult with this one. Chiefs raised this last Thursday I think and still nothing. I checked the PSL log and the PSL themselves don’t acknowledge what happened over the weekend. Technically Chiefs and Cape Town City are yet to play.
 
Sundowns running away with it again, looks like it's impossible for Pirates a Chiefs to be both competitive in the same season, one is always flat when another is putting up a fight.

They look in an entirely different league. I'd have thought AmaZulu with their billionaire owner would start challenging. Royal might if they professionalise instead of the current spaza setup. Chiefs and Pirates require prayers and sacrifices.
