PSU dead upon unboxing?

Morning peeps,

So my AMD2600,mobo ,ram and PSU arrived.


Setup my box but when I switch it on nothing happens and I can see a little spark at the back of PSU when flipping 0/1 switch.
The switch light doesn't even light up.


Does this mean the PSU was dead on arrival and can that small spark damage the newly other bought parts like mobo ram cpu?

PSU is FSP 550w MX Hydro

The spark could be normal, the issue could still be MoBo. You'd need to replace the PSU to confirm.
What switch light are you referring to?

On the back of the PSU one usually gets switch from 0 to 1....Mine isn't black...it's orange

As in its transparent with an LED in it? What is the normal behaviour for the PSU if the MoBo is not properly connected or faulty? Unless you can answer that I'd say it could still be something else. That said, it's likely the PSU.

Yes it has transparent LED...Plugged out everything from Mobo and try powering on PSU....nothing happens

Thinking the same thing, unplug the psu from the mobo entirely, use a paperclip or something and see if you can jump start the psu.

The paperclip trick will tell you if the PSU is dead or not.

It's possible there is a dead PSU on arrival
