So I bought myself a 450W PSU on Friday. Thought I would be smart and got some of those Vantec cable sleeving kits as well. Now, being a bit doff and not planning ahead too far I forgot to take note which cable goes where on the Molex plug. Had a look at one on the other cable I hadn't worked on yet and saw that it's either Yellow-Black-Black-Red or Red-Black-Black-Yellow depending on how you hold the plug.

Now the problem I have is the two black cables in the middle. Does it really matter which one goes where as long as the Red and Yellow are in their correct positions?

Yea i had the same problem, pluged them back in the wrong way and blew my HDD and DVD-RW. ;-(

The black wires dont matter - they all connect to the same spot inside the powersupply. Use your Heatshring sparingly and DONT use a lighter to shrink it. Use a hair dryer or heat blower. A Lighter/Matches leave dirty black marks on your nice new sleeving job.

So just to be certain. If the correct sequence is Red-Black-Black-Yellow, the two black wires can be switched around without any problems as long as the Red and Yellow wires are in the correct place? If so then I should be fine.

@Obelix: My blow-dryer wasn't hot enough so I borrowed my Dads heat gun. I was a bit afraid in the beginning. That thing gets really hot! :) Looks cool when it's done tho.

ive slleved my power supply and changed my molexes to the red 1's

make sure that the yellow wire is on the right.

so if u look at it from the top so it will be red-black-black-yellow (with the cut-off edges on the end)

What also works well with heatshrink is gently rolling a soldering iron over tube (as long as your soldering iron has a cone at the end)
