Pupil dies after classroom prank

We were always enemies with the Afrikaans kids back in the early 80s in Junior school.
I remember climbing onto the concrete stairs which had high concrete edgings that were roughly 2M high.
I waited for 2 afrikaans kids to walk past and I attempted to dive tackle the one kid from the top of the concrete edging.
He walked past, I missed him and face planted into the ground.
Blood everywhere and my english buddies took me to the bathroom to sort the blood out lol.

We did stupid **** as kids.
I feel terrible for both parties involved.

Lucky camera phones and youtube were not around :p

It's time we brough back the cane and corporal punishment.

I support this 100% but for a different reason. We did worse shyte and we got canned. Didn't stop us though :p

We did have respect though, something kids don't have anymore.

Sounds like a freak accident.
Pupils have been pulling chairs out from under other students since forever.

Might have hit her head or chin on the desk in front of her (or behind) and cracked her scull... It's a silly stupid thing, which we all understand, but as a child, its "Funny at the time" - we all did stupid things as children, and if we go back, we'd probably kick our own @sses for doing it... Its a terrible incident to occur. Condolences to her family :(

This is so sad and can't imagine what the parents must be going through. This is clearly just an innocent prank that went wrong and will probably be ruled as a misadventure and the prankster will just have to live with their conscience. I just hope the parents can forgive and not seek persecution and harsh justice.

How the flip does that happen?

Well. Stand up, then I'll show you. (Walks over and holds chair for you)

Its just dumb luck - there are so many ways to leave this mortal coil. I once had a chat with a motivational speaker. He'd been a up-and-coming cricket player, until one night when he took a dive into a pool at a party. He was lucky - he's in a wheelchair now.

An average of 10 Americans die every year from vending machines toppling over and crushing them.
Over 2500 left-handed people a year are killed from using equipment made for right-handed people.
Choking on food causes the death of approximately 1 child every 5 days in the United States.

The US has the best statistics on this (Partly due to **** Yeah 'Murica )
Here's the Top 5
5. Choking (Approximately 2,500 deaths per year)
4. Fires (2,700 annual deaths)
3. Falls (25,000 annual deaths)
2. Poisoning (39,000 annual deaths)
1. Motor Vehicle Incidents (42,000 annual deaths)

One More: Drowning (2,000 annual deaths)
Postscript: Accidental Shootings (600 annual deaths)

Respect should be earned tho, not beaten into kids. My son knows more now at 4 than I knew at 8, just because I let him express himself and talk things out with me. I have given him hidings sometimes, to show him what it could be like, but i always try to make him understand a situation first

I now have a kid who can swear like a sailor but when he is in the company of people, he is the politest, sweetest and kindest kid you'll meet. Unless he is lanning, then he's a little demon :p

The problem we have with our youth today is a complete lack of respect. I was taught respect the hard way. How does a child fresh in primary school respect his teacher if respect needs to be earned? My kids know respect very well. I moered it into them.

/speculating

Her neck probably snapped when her head hit the chair. :(

This. How terriblle.

I'm surprised she fell over though. Everyone I've ever seen this done to (including me) always managed to catch themselves at the last second either by grabbing the desk in front of them or putting a foot under themselves. Was always funny as hell :D.

The student who did it must be beside themselves with guilt as well, they should monitor them for signs of depression.

Here's the reason why we stopped in high school.
