Pupil guns down alleged bully

As someone who was bullied most of their life I'd say that this is an extreme outcome, but the bully did deserve the consequences and I'm just sad that his accomplices didn't suffer the same fate. I've found if you pushed back most bullies are just big wimps anyway.

Without corporal punishment in schools, it's extremely tough to keep any form of discipline in place when the student or "lenner" doesn't fear or respect the teachers.

This bleeds through to the death penalty and poverty (not that poverty necessarily brings on more crime, just that some commit crime to escape poverty because the prison is actually nicer than their own living conditions)
 
A SWAT team? What the hell kind of reporting is this?! Police have SWAT training but there's no SWAT team, is there?
 
This is even better than that chubby kid slam-dunking his bully on the concrete.

Pity it got you in so much trouble, but respect dude!

I've never really bullied anybody myself or been the victim but I've seen children do terrible things to each other. The problem however is that I don't think you'll be able to entirely remove bullying from schools. Human beings always fit into a authority structure depending on who is the Alfa male/female given the people in the room. In schools this boils down to popularity. We've all been there and all of a sudden grow up and say how terrible for that kid to do that, at the end of the day bullying stretches from school to the workplace, to your household, to the retirement village even.

Don't get me wrong, I disagree with it completely but people will use physical and emotional methods to gain dominancy over whomever they can.

Parents on the other hand will need to have more authority over their children. This causes the bully to understand that the whole world doesn't revolve around him or her and toughens up the victim for situations like this. Let your kid get involved with field sport even if it is the B/C team or whatever, this allows after school hours’ time for socialising and is a much smoother method of establishing position in the authority structure. There are multiple things that ranges around the average school child that needs to be looked at to have a stable social child. Also a Parent should actually to net get involved directly, it can make things much worse. Communicate the situation through with the school so that they understand what is going on and take precautionary steps and listen to the what your child is saying. Remember it’s a dominance struggle so they’ll feel embarrassed to talk about it or have people talk about it.

^ This is the answer! Boys will always feel the need to push boundaries because they're growing up. Only a smack from Poppa-Bear keeps them in check!

Yeah, sure deserved to get shot, right? Had corporal punishment still been legal, it would have solved a LOT of discipline problems in school. Not no, everyone can do more or less what they want and will probably not even suffer a tongue-lashing.

you can stand on your head and whistle dixie as far as i'm concerned. a bully is not welcome in my world and any bully that gets something like this happen to him and his cohorts witness it, deserves every damn thing that happens to him/her.

a bullied child can only take so much before that child snaps. why do you think there is this shooting happening at the schools in the US? it's because these kids are bullied to the degree that they are. the sooner people sit up and take note the better. it's all fine and well for their peers to say oh so and so was such a quiet person who got on with everyone but behind closed doors that child was bullied relentlessly by his peers as a child because he was "different". because he didn't "fit in". and you wonder why he snapped and shot a few people at the school or at the movie theater? here's your answer.

when is this schit going to stop? it's time for parents of the bullied child to take a stand and stand up to their child's bully. take that bully on themselves and the parent of the bullied child bully the big fat bully and let the bully see what it's like himself.

LOL, by your logic there should be school shootings weekly :rolleyes: So if a bully get beaten, hard luck to the bully, maybe he learns his lesson, maybe he doesn't and hopefully gets beaten again. But getting shot? Not so much.

EDIT: And what the hell made you think I have a soft spot for bullies? :erm:
 
I feel nothing for the Bully, he is not a victim in any sense of the word. Sure, there are also others that must bear responsiblity along with him - the teachers who failed to act, and the parents who allowed this kind of behaviour, but at the end of the day I believe that bullys know exactly that what they are doing is wrong, and hopefully this sends a clear message out there to other bullies.

What I am sad about is that the kid who took the gun will basically have his life ruined forever and will now encounter FAR WORSE bullies in prison.

It's terrible that there was nobody to turn to and nobody to help him.

Just as the bully knew what he was doing, did the kid with the gun also. When I was in Standard 9 (grade 11), I KNEW not to shoot someone. I also knew not to stab someone. We got into lots of playground fights over bullying, name-calling, "whatcha lookin at me for", as well as various fights over the years as a result of bullying, and the victim suddenly outgrowing the bully during the later years of school, etc etc. But we knew that to shoot someone would end the problem.

Hopefully you are not saying he deserved to be shot?
