Pupil guns down alleged bully

These are school bullies we are talking about. Not armed hijackers. When was this guy's life in danger?

Well when a woman is being raped her life is also not in danger (except in cases of extreme violence) but people scream blue bloody murder when it happens.

True, being bullied is not close to being the same as being sexually raped but it is a form of psychological "rape" hence this particular reaction.

Going by some very emotional posts, it seems like your bully must have sucked... Realy realy bad :D

Bully 1 was just a chancer, same age and grade as me in primary school. My parents even became involved and all the school did was move ME to another class, and I loved my class (my first real crush was in that class). Obviously the bullying didn't stop. I eventually snapped and almost strangled him to death (OK perhaps I'm romanticing the moment a bit too much). Miraculously, the bullying stopped.

Bully 2 started soon thereafter. Three grades ahead of me. He wasn't bad, he did a good job of making me feel helpless even though I eventually outgrew him in high school :D.
He got me on a bad day and I pushed him away so hard he fell on the floor. The bullying miraculously stopped.

Shame were you a school bully...feeling insecure now trying to justify your bullying?
That nerdy kid you bullied now your boss?

Lol seriously though I have been bullied and have bullied in my school life and being on the wrong end of it is alot more difficult than doing the bullying. Its easy to understand how a kid bullied enough may do such things,i have seen students in my class when bullied by a teacher burn that idiot teachers cars to ashes and I dont blame them one bit, bullies deserve it.I regret having ever bullied the one or two that i did bully and ended up befriending them and believe it or not one dude became my best friend,we had so much more in common than I initially thought.

Although killing is harsh he probably got caught up in the moment and emotional trauma of it all.Think about it, he didn't have the power to hit back and the gun was his only option,he must've even thought if he shoots him to just injure him and then the guy will recover and come at him even worse.

So many anti-death penalty people in here saying the death the bully suffered was justified...

Clear to see who was bullied at school :D you guys are funny as hell :p

i was never bullied at school. but when you see how many children are suffering because of this and how many commit suicide, then i don't have a problem when the child who is being bullied takes action against the thug. i don't care what action it is either. if you want to act like that you deserve what's coming to you i'm afraid. you've been warned time and time again not to do it but you think you smart. well when you die you dead.

don't mind him, he's just a snot eater.

It's so easy to point fingers - he deserved it, he didn't deserve it.

Two sides to every story, and what it boils down to, two destroyed lives: bad parenting!

Give em all guns, knives and rabbits.

Keep the population down.

What happened to fighting getting bust up and becoming friends ? Did I miss something or am I getting old?

it's the parents' fault. It always is.
So why don't they send the parents to the magistrate's court ? Ultimately the kid can not be blamed ?

Also interesting to see how people forget about the act of taking a life, and declare that the bully had it coming.

Another one bites the dust :D I remember when I just finished the army and went back home I was "contracted" by a disgruntled mother to sort out a "bully" issue at the school her son was attending. At first I tried to reason but then I realized that no normal man/child will bully another. I think I understand why it happens and I honestly feel sorry for both sides. The one who does the bully is some victim in a way. He might not even know why he has the urge to bully. He has some undiagnosed mental disorder. The question is should he be allowed to satisfy his urge at the expense of others? In some instances even teachers are involved in bullying. Unfortunately their brains understand only one language and that is violence. After sorting out a few cases by now, I came to the conclusion that once a child has reached puberty and is still bully no one can help him anymore and depending on the severity he should be removed from society one way or the other.

Minister tells parents to check school bags for weapons - http://www.timeslive.co.za/thetimes...ells-parents-to-check-school-bags-for-weapons

No Minister... rather ask yourself the question why there are so many guns freely available in the first place. If you don't know the answer then ask your fellow ministers why the fek they are also failing at their jobs.

This is not about guns, you are missing the point, this is about society issues. If not a gun, it would have been a knife or a bat.
We have a much more serious issue here.

Which is why I also included fellow ministers. Government has failed us.

I have no sympathy for bullies...while I understand that many of them have problems at home, it doesn't stop me from wanting to go to school and clouting the crap out of them
The re-introduction of corporal punishment would have many bullies thinking twice.
