Purchasing a car from WeBuyCars

Has anybody here bought a car from Webuycars?I'm looking to buy a car from them but I've seen tons of mixed reviews.Some say they tend to not disclose every single detail of the car etc while some say they are quite good..
I'm skeptical after reading these reviews...
Do any of you have any experiences with WeBuyCars?
 
I wouldn't
I know of 3 cars which were total lemons and sold to friends/family.

They don't have any ethics, they don't give a shyte except for the deal and they buy shyte and sell it for a huge profit.
 
I would not but in general, I am very careful when buying 2nd hand cars.
Prefer buying from an individual than a 2nd hand car lot. Even better if I know the person.
 
From my understanding of Webuycars, they will take pretty much anything, give it a wash and put it up for sale.
There is no checking of anything on the vehicle and its intended to be turned around quickly.
I generally hear of people selling their cars to them when they were unable to sell to anyone else.
 
Best thing you could do is take the VIN and visit the franchise dealer and check for any warranty claims/comments etc.

that’s not going to give you the full picture but it’s a start.

this must be done buying from any car dealer, not just webuycars.
 
Webuycars do have full Dekra reports available for vehicles listed on their website. And those reports are free to browse and pretty thorough.

For fun, search for a 2005 BMW and see how many error codes and other issues appear in the Dekra report

With a normal dealer the CPA protects you, if something goes wrong within 6 months you can take the car back, however with webuycars the CPA wont protect you because they are wholesale. so its just like buying from an auction.(voetstoots). Their dekra reports should also be taken with a pinch of salt.

You are protected if you finance the car, just not if you buy cash.

Everything was fixed that failed roadworthy before I took delivery of the car back then.

Good luck with a dealership taking back a lemon within 6 months.
They will play delay tactics till the cows come home

Why with a pinch of salt? Do the reports not state what is wrong? I looked online now and problem areas are shown.
 
It's important to remember the concept of the business before trashing it. IT'S A CAR SUPERMARKET NOT A CAR DEALERSHIP.

you go, you look, you test drive, you buy or not.

No negotiating no bs. The ball is left totally in your court so if you buy a lemon it's on you. I have bought a few cars from them and if an issue arises it is one of those things. I knew the risks before purchase.

If you are looking for total peace of mind then you need to go to proper stealerships and pay inflated prices that's just how it goes.

Bought a Renault Clio for a friend. Inspecting the car, we could see the tyres were shot and the (auto) gearbox dodgy. But it was R40k below retail so he took a chance

Tyres and alignment cost R3800. The gearbox swap out was R8000. Car been driven for just over a year now and is fine

The DEKRA report was fiction, it was a copy and paste job from another car. Even the VIN number was incorrect

I bought both my cars from them (2010 Suzuki Alto in 2017) and (2015 Ford Ecosport 1.5 tdci in 2019)
Suzuki developed a small oil leak about a month after purchase, took it back to them and they replaced both CV joints immediately since the oil leak cam from the gearbox where the CVs go in.
No issues with the Ford so far.
The most important thing to remember when buying from WeBuyCars is that YOU DONT BUY CASH!!! If you buy cash, you have no warranty on that vehicle, so if after paying the car blows its engine when you want to drive off, its your problem.
ONLY buy with bank finance, then they have to give you a warranty (Consumer Protection Act). When buying cash, the deal is done as if it was an auction, hence no warrantee.
I have only had good experiences with WeBuyCars, but will never buy cash from them, even if I have the cash, I would still do finance and then just pay it off a month later.
 
Bought a stunning Honda from them, went straight to Honda, got an extended warranty and service plan -have had 0 issues, been over a year now.

I did call Honda pre-purchase and asked them if they had anything on record for this vehicle, if the service logs were genuine and if I could extend the warranty etc.

I was also a tad hesitant at the time, asked them all the questions, I found their service to be just fine.

Would I purchase from them again - yes, but you have to do your due diligence.

Exactly this.

I’m willing to bet the vast majority of buyers getting burned either didn’t read it at all or ignored most of what it said wanting to walk away with what they thought is a great deal.

They do sell pretty solid cars as well, but the price is then of course in line with most others.

The main thing to remember with WeBuyCars is that the due diligence is all your to do.
