Push Ups & Pull Ups

you will not get ripped through weightless exercise pooky, i'm sorry to break it to you. if you want to maintain health it's fine but you need weights.

agreed

but there are types of push ups and pull ups you can do to give you a bit more muscle definition

do push ups with your feet raised (on a chair or something) for the top of your pecs (the part that chicks will see when you're wearing a v-neck shirt)

doing push ups on your knees ("girls push ups") really works your biceps depending on how close you keep your arms together.

you can do overhand pull ups, it'll help most of your arm and by raising your chin to your right hand, then to your left and continuously alternating where you pull up to you can work your back

there are probably a whole lot more but those are the ones I've tried and show results though nothing great like weights

you are either

0) skinny
1) toned
2) defined
3) lean rip
4) ripped
5) bloat ware

personally prefer lean rip. for that you have to eat correctly and work in cardio and weights.

Yes, weights and steriods are the only way to get healthy.
Unfortunately it makes your nads and your brain smaller.

Not sure how that is related to what I was saying. My assertion was that exercise without weights and a healthy diet alone can give you a good build. Besides it is far better to do just that than nothing at all! :)

This man speaks the truth! Unless you gifted with amazing genes pushups and pullups will not make you big. You need heavier weight resistance to grow muscle quick. You can get nice biceps from pullups though and semi decent lats but you need weights to look really good.

Pushups, same story. They work triceps, chest, shoulders but depending how you do them you can focus more on chest or shoulders. But you won't get big or strong doing this. I did these both for years when I was just surfing for exercise before I started gymming and you do get definition but without much muscle. Hit the benchpress+ pec deck and deadlifts + lat pulldowns and then you will get results, if you eat enough of the right stuff that is :-) But pushups and pullups are a good place to start so you at least have some strength when you start weights. Good luck!

Yea its amazing what just a good diet and some sport like surfing does. When your body fat is really low it looks like you have twice as much muscle.

So it is possible.......

to be born with a low body fat percentage (thanks to your metabolism and the rest of it)... yes... it is possible

not that im calling alf101 a fat loser...

but that's normally fat loser talk for "I don't know how to train and it makes me feel better about myself to think that muscular people have small brains and small nuts"

Nah, I just read a a post wrong :o , or it got changed later.

:)

Alf is not confrontational dude, calling someone a fat loser though because you have used steroids and have a small penis is not cool though :D

Not alf's fault he is right :D.

I have like 2% body fat or something ridiculous. It's basically skin and then muscle underneath it. I have pretty much always had an 8 pack purely because it is just my muscles underneath.

But I want to get my pecs and arms a bit bigger.

But with pull ups and push ups, you do have heavy weight (yourself) - surely?

The problem dolby is you will get used to the weight within 2-3 weeks and then what?

You need to increase the weight as your body becomes used to it in order for your muscles to grow.
