PvE enchancement Shaman weapons

As a recent Enhancement respec : some options that I considered:

The easiest will be to farm some AV + EotS to get Merciless. Don't get the cheap offhand (it's way too fast), you'll need to farm two 'mainhands' at around 18K each.

alternatively:

-Heroic Shattered Halls drops The Bladefist, which is pretty solid
-MgT heroic has Breeching Comet, alongside a plethora of other good drops including our best trinket.
-Karazahn has options as mentioned above. Fools Bane and The Decapitator, among a lot of other good jobs(don't be afraid to roll on leather!) and of course, badges. Lots and lots of badges, which brings me to...
-farm badges and get Vanir's Left and Right fists of Brutality. These are some of the best weapons available to us, equivalent to S3 or BT/MH drops. 150 badges for both. Get these and you will probably not upgrade them any time soon(as in, next upgrades or Brutal, or Siphons/Sunwell drops).
-First boss in Zulaman drops both Rage and some of the best shoulders available, and is easy. Try and get in on a guild run or pug or something.

Currently I'm using Fool's Bane from KZ and Rage from ZA, was quite lucky there. Am slowly farming badges for Vanir's Left and Right Fists of Brutality OR hoping for Al'ar to drop me some good stuff tonight or for MH trash to be kind.

Personally I'd get the S2 MH fist and the badges offhand fist(only 45 badges, that's two KZ runs) as a newly dinged shammy. Reckon this would be the quickest way to get two very good weapons that will last you for a long time to come.

protip: if you can't afford to get Mongoose, it's easy enough to farm Live-side Stratholme for Righteous Orbs (Gilford has like a 80% chance to drop one, and the mobs have about 3% chance give or take to each drop one) for Crusader, which is a good temporary enchant solution. Might not be able to solo it yet but grab a healer friend and you could 2man it. You need 2 Orbs and 4 Large Brilliant Shards for 1 enchant, which is totally gettable in one quick run.

* Can only be applied to a weapon level 35 or higher.
* The amount of attack speed gained is 2%.
* +120 agi
* The effect lasts 15 seconds.
* The buff which boosts your agility and attack speed is stackable. This does not appear to be the case for 2h weapons. Mongoose simply resets the timer and does not give an additional buff.
* Although the supposed proc rate is approximately the same as Crusader (1 ppm), this enchant can proc multiple times in a row even on 2h weapons. It does not appear to have a hidden cooldown. The proc is most likely normalized to 1ppm, but not strictly bound to it.
* When Mongoose procs, the player will be surrounded by beams of red light shooting upward, and crossed swords will appear over the player's head. A brief "swoosh" sound will accompany the proc.
* Mongoose will not proc off ranged attacks, only melee.
* This enchant is highly useful to tanks and agility-based melee DPS.

I personally prefer a solid AP boost from Potency to a random burst for a few seconds like Mongoose does. If you are a LW you can get nice speed boost from haste drums ;)

Yeah, Potency is just.. horrible. Shammies are crit focused. More crit means more flurry. More flurry means more unleashed rage.

Don't be That Guy.

Hmm never had problems keeping flurry up even with as low as 23% crit :P Admittedly my shammy has been Elemental most his life but I have toyed with enh and Fury wars use same basic mechanics when it comes to Flurry

As for +dmg enchants ( only effective on high speed weapons )

Not saying Potency is the best by far, sadly we've been stuffed since lvl60 where crusader was ace proc for AP but with crusader being nerfed for post60 I've just always preferred pure power over random acts of kindness from the proclords :P

80 extra AP ( 88 with Kings ) just makes my tail wag

Well, you have to look at it from an average procs over time scenario. Over a, say, 10 minute fight the average net gain from Mongoose procs will outweigh a static AP boost from Potency. On trash packs where mongoose might only proc once, if at all, Potency might actually win out. Of course, dps on packs isn't really anywhere near as important as it is on bosses.

Crusader is 140 AP and a Heal. 88 Passive still fails

Crusader is a few seconds from a PPM. Passive is constant..if thats your only argument you best run along ;)

No it was more of a reiteration. I suggest you go look at the theorycrafting in the Elitist Jerks thread for Enhancement Shaman.
Potency is only +40 AP passive not +80.

Only a personal preference ;)

I noticed a while ago if I were to always go by the numbers purely i'd enjoy myself far less with this game...a sad thought...this game has become such a mean-limit-numbers game :(

+80 AP is considering you have both weapons enchanted with 20str ( 2 x 20str x 2 = 80 AP ( 1str = 2ap for Enh till tlk comes out ) )

:P

Well i guess this thread is proof positive that some skaap from zed ay knows more than legions of shammies raiding bt and sunwell.

That was such a troll post

But fine I wash my hands of this then

If people can't understand the difference between personal preference and number-crunching then they really shouldn't be posting in a thread that was originally about Weapons that are easy to get for Enhancement as obviously these weapons would not be the best out there and the number crunching would hit a brick wall known as gear-limitation

*The author of these posts is in no way claiming that he has mastered every spec class and instance/raid in the World of Warcraft however a claim about raiding BT/Sunwell making one an expert is not very valid seeing as there are enough T6 geared people who are complete rtards. For affirmation of this go ahead and peruse over the Wow forums for Sunwell trolls and Lootninja's/guilddrama

**Yes i've also btdt BT and Sunwell but I ain't claiming expertise due to it

Glad u got sorted mate :) Sometimes however u have to try it out and see what suits you and ignore the l2ptrolls ;)

Not quite that, many elitist raiders are also in disagreement over this ;)
I would take mongoose any day over potency though.

The hidden cooldown was refered to for off hand procs. Thouh it does seem that this have been changed a bit recently

Same wikki source
one-handed weapons in your off-hand reduces the proc-rate by 50%

Thanks didn't see the inconsistency there!

You can actually go modify the wiki for clarity there :)

In that case it would be 80AP vs 280 AP since Crusader Stacks unlike Mongoose which only stacks on the Haste.

Actually, there is no disagreement. Empyrical testing confirms that hands down Mongoose and Crusader totally pants Potency.

Damn it Shogun

Now I'm completely disconfukulated

On a 2.6 weapon and haste stacks on it. It will affect my WF proc rate ? and if AP of Crusader stacks but has no affect my WF proc rate, wouldn't that be better then ?

Gwd damn it, just when I thought I understood this now :(

The "Haste is Bad for Enhance" myth is a complete load of manure.

Haste is awesome for any melee class so no, Crusader is still good but Mongoose is better.
