Quadcopter/Drone Thread

If you want to question my 'basic drone principals' I suggest you visit the DJI YouTube channel. Some of my work is on their official page. ;)

Also when the Mavic 2 is officially launched, play close attention to the promo video that is released with it. You might recognise some of the shots. ;)

Which videos are yours?

I don't know why you keep going on about the IMU. It's an inertia sensing device. Very similar to the accelerometer in your phone. All drones have it. It's not a true mechanical gyroscope.

Genetic will only call it a proper gyroscope if it's made in cast bronze and was fabricated before 1900. He's probably going to try get a refund on his Dji drone now that I've broken his bubble.

You still have no clue what an IMU is, I posted what it is earlier but clearly falling on your sword or educating yourself isn't something you are in to.

Going back to the car analogy I wouldn't be surprised if you are one of those miscreants that drives a V8 and claims that anything with 4 pistons isn't a "real" car. :crylaugh:

Legally I'm not allowed to say - we have an NDA with DJI, but geographically it should give it away.

DJI have contracts with content creators globally for their products, and we are one of them.

Currently working on a new DJI gimbal, which will be released within weeks.

No Airborne, I'm not biting anymore. This was my original argument, and I'm sticking to it;

You can't get much more zoom than 2-3x optical on a drone the size of a Mavic. It's not a physical size limitation of the compound lens element, but purely stabilisation. They could actually cram a 10x zoom lens in easily if they wanted to.

Point is, the Mavic is a $1,000 drone. Anything technologically greater (including a good zoom lens) is gong to set you back a shyte load more money - as in the Z30 you keep referring to.

You have an NDA covering stuff published on YouTube?

Lol not biting, that's rich you don't have any teeth to bite with.

We have been setup :/
All this bs just so genetic gets a chance to whip out his little weiner.

Genetic in bar... Hey babe, guess what? I flew my drone in a youtube video! Gets swatted for the 10th time that night. Goes home to speak s### on Mybb.

Go away.

For fun or work?

The DJI Tello has the same software and flight time as the Spark for 20% of the price: https://store.dji.com/product/tello

True, but I'd a) like a better camera and b)

Can Tello fly indoors?

Yes, Tello is safe to fly indoors. Tello can also fly outdoors, but it is only recommended to do so in windless conditions.
I live in PE. :o

Also I'd like something with a bit of range.

TBH I'm a little concerned the prevailing wind conditions here might be a little too much for the spark but a budget is a budget.

Technically the NDA covers stuff that hasn't been released yet, so hope the videos give a little clarity.

That’s why I was a little confused as to why you’d think an NDA would cover published and publically available material...

My use case is photos for a dating profile, so won't use it much. :o

Can't stop the wind but a R200 USB Xiaomi wifi extender + a battery bank extends the signal substantially.

That’s quite impressive, did DJI pay all your transport/hotel costs when you did that one?

All transport and accommodation costs covered, with a bit of profit on top - not a lot though.

Interesting note, when you test a new product that has yet to be launched, they will not even let you use your own phone / tablet, in case you leak the cached video filed stored on the device. You have a DIT that hovers over you the whole time and gives you an SD Card and phone to fly, then immediately confiscates it afterwards.

We also have absolutely no control over the post production process.

My wife won't let me date :o

It's just something I want to explore before I decide how much money I want to sink into it. At the same time having a better camera makes it easier to justify as something more than a toy. :)

I'd recommend a refurbished Phantom 4 - much better than the spark, much much better camera and also doesn't rely on WiFi to fly.
