Quadcopter/Drone Thread

I am looking for cheapish easy to fly drone for my son (he's 10). No doubt it will get banged up pretty good while he learns to fly.

Problem is the cheap ones are full manual where the DJI pretty much do everything so it doesn't give much experience when then flying a decent one. More just a fun toy, many cheap ones from china.

Has the official price for the Mavic been released? Mavic has better flight time, looks smaller, has better functionality.

The Karma has a detachable camera and grip.

It's a toss up but to me it seems that the market has responded more favourably to the Mavic.

The detachable gimbal camera is cool and it's a decent size. Too small and it struggles in the wind.

Well for a lot of people like me the biggest reason for not owning a drone is that you can't easily take it with you everywhere. Especially on hiking trips where you already carry camera gear. I'm pretty sure this will be the adventurer's no.1 go-to drone

That's one of my reasons, the other being worried about being able to control it. The Mavic is both small and seems easy to use.
 
I have a Phantom 2 Vision Plus that I hardly use. Used it less than 6 times since I bought it. Any idea how much I could get for it?

I have a spare battery (brand new) and prop guards.

Mavic is a Phantom 4 squeezed into something you can throw into your backpack when hiking. And this makes it perfect for me.

I must of been drunk. Thought was $1299 - but that's for everything + bag and batteries.

Just also watched Casey Neistat video on it and seems great. Dji won this round I think, however go pro definitely looks appealing seeing as getting action camera, drone and handheld steady cam thingy.

Happy to see the competition!

Ok I'll go back to flying my big P4 now.

Slower shutter speeds for certain looks. Most of them (all?) have fixed apertures afaik.

24fps is considered cinematic, with the 180 deg rule that means 1/48th sec (1/50th practically) is optimal. On sunny days the shutter speed could be forced to shutter speeds much quicker than that. Hence ND filters.
