Quadcopter/Drone Thread

Mozambique's coastline is stunning!
Without a doubt.
The interesting thing (for me at least) is how close the different natural habitats are to each other. If you look at the first photo you can see the coastline, dune forest, dune grassland and fresh water lake all in 1 picture and within a radius of about 200m from each other.

Been wanting a drone for years and was at a bachelors this weekend where I got to fiddle with one. My DJI Mini 2 is arriving today :)

This 50m for people/buildings etc does that include vertical, ie: can I fly 50m above a building? I'm a chairman of a complex and want to use it instead of walking around, will have permission to overfly common area, will obviously not be able to fly over private areas.

Going to do this but with a drone?

Semi NSFW

Might leave you with a semi

Sorry, I couldn't help myself. I think it'd help if you gave a budget for people to recommend against, if that makes sense.

Hi All

would appreciate a recommendation on an entry level drone.

Perhaps keep a record on the 1st post?

TIA
I think any of the DJI Mini range of drones is good for entry and even mid-level. They are pretty easy to learn and forgiving in the air. Prices are not cheap, but if you are serious about flying these are probably the best option.
Also, if your budget allows, see if you can spring for the flymore combo packs. The extra batteries and charger is really worth it.

Do you have to go for a license for this stuff, specially for these entry level ones?

Not unless you want to use the footage for commercial purposes. If you're just flying recreationally you're good to go. There are a bunch of (onerous) regulations you need to adhere to.

Okay, but are these things actually enforced in this country?

I've heard of enforcement, mostly in the Western Cape, in particular Capetown. Usually it's some disgruntled "licensed" operator ratting out an unlicensed one.

Picked up a Mavic Air 2nd hand a couple of days ago.

Watching 'how-to' vids at the moment.

Fun (bloody noisy though)
Can't be noisier than my current first gen Air?

Better get your drone while you can .. DJI is Chinese-based company .. Beijing explained it had announced the measures in order to protect "national security and interests”. The export restrictions will take effect on September 1.
