Question - Please assist

This must be one of the coolest threads ever…a mop recommendation with a photo! I think very few forumites who will have to buy a mop in future will be able to forget about this post :D

It's just an eye that plugs into my bedroom tv. Once off at Pick & Pay. An Ellies thingy. Use the main remote from the lounge or buy a new one. It merely changes channels which is what I think the lady is doing.

We never got a mop with it LOL - Don't worry I know you quoted the wrong post.... hehe

Thanks

I'm guessing that she does in fact have a decoder and that's what she paid for...but he kept it in the house where the current cabling to the dish is so that he doesn't need to fork out more for that.

Using a remote blaster to get the remote to function from where she is.

if the current home owner already has DSTV they would have probably had their own decoder for themselves. They would have still needed to purchase another decoder to put the extraview in the unit.

What is the cost of a new decoder?

Ok i see prices vary for decoders.

I promise this is my last question, i just want to get my facts straight.

For an installation like this, is it necessary for a new dish. She suspects that he installed a new dish. if not, he did it and she must pay for it? I know its hard to answer without having all the facts, but i just want to get this sorted.

Can only certain dishes accommodate extra view or any of them and was a new dish just a nice to have for him.

Could she not just ask him for a breakdown of the cost and what exactly was done? Entirely reasonable request.

I emailed him. He called and said he can't find it. so I said maybe we could call the company who did the installation as I'm sure they will still have a copy lol.

I also said her dad wanted it - (I'm the mom) kind of just to put him off that a man is asking for it. He said he'll try and find it.

Let's see.

Thank you everyone

Yes that's what I'm saying.

A second decoder was purchased but just not installed in the flat for whatever reason.

How old is your daughter?

Maybe a good time to let her learn to sort out things herself...rather than have mommy and daddy spoon feeding her through life.

Just saying.

Not to start a debate here, and I probably shouldn't even answer, but my daughter is 24. Even though she's not been spoonfed for a LONG time she moved away from home on her own trying to make a life for herself and is doing a very good job of that. Now some idiot is trying to intimidate her and I'm not allowed to support her? - Each to his own eh?

Is she dating at the moment?

No they wouldn't. Not if they already had another decoder that supports multiple viewing environments via a single decoder.

The fact that he only gave her the "eye" leads me to believe its exactly like I'm thinking - there is no extra decoder.

So to break it down

-The eye means that the owner has DSTV and is sharing a connection to your daughter.
-You daughter is paying a full subscription therefore paying the owners DSTV and he is paying nothing.
-The cost of installation would make sense if he got an explora, multi switches, hundreds of meters of cable (running to the flat) etc.

Does your daughter pay DSTV directly?
Can she take pictures of the installation and equipment in her flat so we can advise properly?

I would be very nervous of staying on a premises with someone like that and would seriously consider finding a new place.

I called him yesterday to ask for the installation invoice and he said he will try and find it. He mentioned that he has an explora and my daughter's installation was totally independent from his explora.
Facts that we know:

The flat is attached to the house and she said wires were pulled from the ceiling.
He has explora - whether old or new I don't know
She pays R850 DSTV per month
He mentioned a new dish was installed (WTH??)
She has a tv, remote and eye

Anyways - will see if he sends me an invoice. I have a feeling he is going to drop it. I said to him when I called if it means she pays the installation if we get to keep everything when she moves out - and he didn't really give me a clear answer.

Anyways thanks for all the help.
