I couldn't agree more, posting the pictures on this very public forum would be reckless. I will PM you my email address, will post feedback once I have had a look fella's.

jaja whatever

We decided to not pay anything. Regardless of what happens @invoice now. He will probably cut her signal off then we'll take it from there.

Get her uncapped ADSL and point her to one of the how to netflix threads. Or just good old piracy :p.

He'll probably charge her 10k for the installation of the line alone :)

A better idea would be if you have ADSL yourself, get her an integrated SIM so at least she can stream or download some shows

The obvious answer here is watch SABC, with their new 80% local line up she is sure to have tonnes of gripping content to watch.

No they wouldn't. Not if they already had another decoder that supports multiple viewing environments via a single decoder.

The fact that he only gave her the "eye" leads me to believe its exactly like I'm thinking - there is no extra decoder.

And you were right. This guy is using his brandnew Explora thingy and she is charged with paying the installation and the monthly fee for both of them ... NICE hey!

He didn't admit, but he can not find the invoice. He can not show me his DSTV monthly account because it is 'personal'. I stated that after I have spoken to a few experts that he is charging my daughter for his Explora installation and the subscription for both of them, and he said if she is not going pay he will cut the DSTV.

Anyways.. so this is where we are. And he probably will. She will give notice end of July. She is not going pay the monthly fee for this month, which means he is going to disconnect her.

What alternatives does she have with regards to DSTV? is it possible for instance to stream on her side through my dSTV account. Sorry for the lack of terms, but I remember with the Oscar trial we were able to watch the channel through the DSTV website with our smartcard number *I think* or self service login name. Is there such a function still? What else can she use? She has an internal 3g in her pc. She is not a tv freak but wants to watch occasionally.

Thank you

I'd consider moving out if it's an option. The further away from someone who's already tried to screw you once - the better.

Definitely an option yes. Ridiculous! Sad for her though, but she will have to move :(

Not to start a debate here, and I probably shouldn't even answer, but my daughter is 24. Even though she's not been spoonfed for a LONG time she moved away from home on her own trying to make a life for herself and is doing a very good job of that. Now some idiot is trying to intimidate her and I'm not allowed to support her? - Each to his own eh?

I'm not saying you aren't allowed to support her...but it sounds like you are doing it for her because by the sounds of it you've been talking to the landlord directly.

As a third party you technically have nothing to do with it and shouldn't either.

Telling her it's bull**** is about as much as you should do and let her sort it out herself, otherwise you'll forever be "supporting" her every time there's a wobble.

And when you aren't there any more...

I say this simply because I know so many people in my own peer age group who cannot do anything for themselves or make simple decisions without asking mommy and daddy first.

As for the issue at hand, lesson learnt to have this stuff done on her own account for her own account next time.

Get her own dish and her own decoder on her own contract and she won't have these issues.

Problem is its not like she can install a dish where she lives now. He will never allow it.

I know what you say about young adults doing things for themselves. As I've said before, each to his own. Each person's story is unique, but that's totally off topic.

Thanks anyways

hmmm
i saw a temporary installation at a caravan camping site
they stuck a pole in the ground
mounted dstv dish to it
ran cable from lnb to dstv decoder
