Has anyone bought this devise? It is only R699 and warns you about traffic cameras. My question is how big is their database and how up to date is it? I have a built in GPS in my new car (previously used a Garmin Nuvi with camera alerts). This seems like a neat option with no wires and solar power to use with my built in device.

Any feedback or advise would be appreciated.

If you are in SA, this is a waste of time and money.

We have very few fixed cameras left.

These days the metro police put up their cameras where and when they want.

Any database that claims to be able to keep track of their positions are lying.

Best bet would be to follow Pigspotter on Twitter.

Also, if this goes on your windscreen, it will probably be reduced to a molten mass in a very short period of time. It was not designed with the hot African sun in mind.

Get a garmin, it is updated and the cops have to register the places they sit and trap. They cannot rock up somewhere and setup without registering or something like that.

I have not had one speed fine since i got my garmin three years ago. Keep it updated and it will pick almost every camera out there. Fixed or not. I fly until i hear it crying.

I have a Garmin, but do not like the cable having from the windscreen and taking up my lighter plug. Since I have built in GPS I just want get speed camera notifications. Does anyone know where the Spy device get their camera info? Maybe they even buy the Garmin datbase?

Me too and I did not even need a GPS to warn me.

It is because the traffic cops have all but dissapeared in my neck of the woods. ;)

Unfortunately they do.

+1 on Garmin, it is a known brand, trusted by many and as said above that they have to register where they trap. Other alternative (flame on) is don't speed :o
