No the mindset was sadly there before politicians started meddling. If they'd allowed a natural process in the talent pipeline politicians would not have had cause to meddle. I disagree with political meddling because they tend to break things instead of fixing them. By the way I know a certain player of colour who has made the Boks team yet keeps grumbling that he's being kept down for the colour of his skin and has to work harder than his white counterparts to keep his place. I know this is anecdotal but there it is. The guy may just be making excuses or there may be a problem.
 
Just like religion and politics should be kept out of sport so should the anc but not only for religion purposes but for corruption and embarrassment purposes as well.

You do know that neither the All Whites, or the All Blacks for that matter, have names derived from anything relating to their skin color, right?

Hmm I wonder who that is.

I remember reading a book about the Boks and the author said their were similar rumblings during the 2011 WC. But unless someone actually comes out and says anything and has proof about it. There isn't much credence we, the public, can really give such grumblings. Because I feel many of the grumblings about race in the boks can often be put down to other factors.
 
At the end of the day if you want a team capable of winning things it has to be comprised of the best available players. The mistake here is that government structures have not funded grassroots sports development in order to naturally develop players who are able to cut it at the elite level and where funding was provided, it cannot be accounted for or facilities were built at inflated prices to line pockets as usual. Bottom line is that there is no patience to develop black sportsmen organically so now the attitude is that we have to force them into the system regardless of if they're at the required level.

Eventually this will lead to a decline in quality, support, sponsorship, salaries etc.

But so what, as long as we can field X amount of black players

Sad thing is, if you ask any player no matter race or colour they will say the same, they want to be picked on merit, not because they are black or white. I personally heard a player of colour say before that one day he wants to become a Bok, but he will work his arse off, because he doesn't want to be a quota player, he want to deserve his place. This was in his very early 20's and he whent on to become a very successful Bok player.

The Springboks are struggling as it is to find a permanent sponsor. They now rely on someone to sponsor them for individual series'. The Kings, who exist mainly due to political reasons also, have also struggled to find a sponsor.

Yep. It hasn't been about performance for a long while now. We can be last, as long as we're representative!

Soon we will be struggling to beat Namibia.
