If the FBJ is allowed to "filter" members based on race, what impact does this have on other organizations, e.g. ATKV?
 
It seems that anyone who does not agree with Qwelane is a racist or a coconut, what does that make him :D
 
I still do not quite understand the reason given for black journalists wanting to gather on their own. Surely the common denominator in such a gathering is their field of employment i.e. journalism, so anyone in that field ought to be welcome.

JZ wanted to have a private chat with his journous.
Most probably read from the big book.
He is going to be president soon, the pecking order had to be sorted out.
 
To nods and murmurs of agreement, he said there could be no such thing as racism against white people, because the term originated in the violence white people perpetrated against black slaves.

So when government says that they want to get rid of racism, they mean white on black racism only. It's nice that somebody clarified it for us.

That was not said by government, but by writer and land rights activist Andile Mngxitama, speaking in his personal capacity.

This part is my favourite:

During the discussion, AfriForum spokesperson Kallie Kriel questioned whether the FBJ would be conducting a pencil test - a demeaning apartheid method of classification by running a pencil through a person's hair to determine their race - to ascertain whether FBJ members were black, considering that there was no longer legislation determining race.

An outraged member of the audience shouted "for 50 years you knew how to classify us, now it becomes academic?"

Qwelane said that the definition of "black" was a "very cerebral thing" - it was not necessarily the colour of a person's skin, but their state of mind. He believed this included Indian, coloured and African people "minus the coconuts".

To which Kammies responded: "If black is a state of mind, then what stops white people from also being able to identify?"

Maybe, it explains why any plan by government to get rid of racism will fail, if this is the thinking of your average black person. If only white people can be racists, then any plan to get rid of racism, will only be intended for white people.

Yesterday I also read an interesting post on here (I forget the name of the poster, otherwise I would have given her the credit).

The poster said that, because of the REAL discrimination of the past, black people would object against certain actions that took place in those days, and rightly so. But they got so used to playing the race card that in today's environment they still cry racism every time they do not get what they want or if things do not work out for them. It happens to all us of - you do not always get what you want, but most times it has nothing to do with racism.

I honestly think we need to boycott Media24 until this ijot is fired - its the African way and "when in Rome...".

100% agree.. can moan and moan till the cows come home (i hope cows dont find that offensive) - but until S Africans realise that *they* make the change - as per above - then will just continue...
Media24 would "have" to react if page hits dropped

Boycott all their media: Beeld, Die Burger, Rapport, City Press, You, Huis Genoot, Fair Lady, FHM, Heat, Zoo, Cosmo, Men's Health, Sport Illustrated, Golf Digest, etc, etc until they get the message. But we need some sort of campaign to make people realise who this guy is and what the organisation he works for publishes!

John Qwelane holds no authority on who should be racist.... lets not use him as an excuse people... ridiculous. If you're racist (and I feel sorry for you)....just be so then...

I sent in a complaint to News24 when this twats article was posted. I have yet to receive a response.


I am not holding my breath.
 
Best way to "return the favor" is to simply create a FWJ [forum for white journalists] . Exact same industry, just whites. Do not allow any blacks at the conference.....lets see what happens. It's the only way the real coconuts will get these things through their thick skulls.
 
Its so sad that Jon Qwelane works side by side with such impeccable journalists like Max du Preez. You would think Max's journalistic integrity and mature writing would have rubbed off on this thick skulled racist. Instead he resorts to sensationalist writing and attempts to incite hatred between the races. It is this kind of person that will forever prevent this country from reaching the potential it has.

His writing is more suited to tabloids than serious reporting.
