This is a wonderful proposition for people who require voice-calls and basic data usage.
It's cheaper (in its category) than anything else available and wireless, so once the coverage is larger, more under-serviced people/areas can be brought into communication.

This was never designed (from the article) as a replacement for broadband or for large data use, comparing apples with apples is what's needed here.

Well done Neotel!

PS. Don't let the above be construed as a lack of still wishing that Neotel would hurry up and bring out real fixed line broadband offerings, including an ethernet device (this mythical future date isn't winning you friends) and pure data products rather than "converged services."

Most of us do not want a contract, we have been burnt before with contracts, and would prefer month-to-month.

Also, in this current financial climate it makes sense not to tie you to something for 24 months.

Yeah, the correct English would be "fewer" but like I have posted before, there is no sense in debating with someone who can't even string together a coherent sentence.

I think that R99 access charge is a bit steep or even that R74 Access charge will also be regarded as steep.

Take into Account that alot of people have ditched fixed line Telephony because of Access charges when that money could be used on airtime.

Maybe consider the following :

Basic Month 2 Month Option.
R49 Access Charge
Outright purchase of Telephone / Modem
Low Call Rates to all Networks
Low Data Rates
Low sms Rates to all Networks
No FREE sms, Minutes or data.
Pay for what you Use ONLY !

This will be a hit with most people who prefer an internet connection for Basic usage and those that wish to make a few calls.

12 Month Contract Option.
R149 Access Charge
Low Call Rates to all Networks
Low Data Rates
Low sms Rates to all Networks
100 FREE sms to any Network,
50 FREE Minutes to any network.
500 megs FREE Data

This will be a hit with most people who prefer an internet connection for low daily usage and those that wish to make a few calls.


Now is the Time to Capture the Market between R0 - R200.
Lots of users in this Bracket will be good for Neotel without Causing congestion on the network.

With the imminent launch of the Ethernet / Rev.A Modem / Phone.
There will be Mass uptake of your product in all he areas you have coverage in.

Neotel must Speed up Roll-out , Not to lose customers to the competitors and have a Network without Users.

Cell-C when they launched they had ample capacity on their network and never offered any Free Cell-C to Cell-C calls. When they were under pressure they folded and decided to offer free minutes to all subscribers over the week-end.

Another option worth considering is to couple your Free minutes with Cell-C Free minutes ( Maybe cut a deal with Cell-C for Free minutes From Cell-C to be allowed over the Neotel Network and Neotels free minutes ( limit it to 60 per week-end ) to be allowed to the
Cell-C network.
