R120 for a headlight bulb?

R149 for a pair isn't bad. I paid R120 for one at the dealership, the barstewards.........
 
Midas in Strand are selling the Osram H7 Nightbreakers Plus for R256.
Apparently the normals (H4) will not fit my vehicle.
 
The problem with HID kits is that your reflector may not be set up correctly for it and the light then scatters, giving you wildly divergent beams, making it essentially useless for you whilst blinding fellow motorists.
 
Bright headlights are awesome for night driving ect, however when every second driver ends up flashing you tell you your "brights" are on when they not .... Almost ended in road rage ...
 
I never had issues with my previous car, I had the Nightbreakers in them too.
I want to go and buy 2x sets of Nightbreakers tomorrow, 1 set for my GF's car and 1 set for mine.
Her lights are dim... so hopefully this will fix that issue.
Mine are normal, I WANT brighter lights.

A generic will lose brightness and fail within a year. Stay away from those Ryan globes midas pushes. Get yours3lf phillips globes. 150plus a set. I have h7 55w I got from bosch dealer . Phillips brand... 3 years now and lighting is still tops.

The "sideways blaster is either a reflection in headlight or the little parklight. They are around R10 each.
 
I have an HID kit fitted to my i30 (projector headlights) and they work well enough. I paid R550 for the pair of 6000K bulbs and the ballasts and they are adequate. My brights I kept halogen as they use normal headlight reflectors. I might stick some nightbreaker bulbs in when they pop.

Off topic, but the previous Honda Ballade I had was 18 years old and still had the original bulbs in everywhere, from the headlights to the dome light to the brakelights. It had 246K km on the odo and about 80K km of these were dirt roads from my parents' farm into town. I consider it a testament to the build quality of stuff made pre-2000. It just lasts :D :D

H7 is pretty common. Nightbreakers are great.

I got the Osram bulbs with the offset pins from Autozone, was about R50 for the pair IIRC
 
Osram Nightbreakers all the way. Well worth the money.

Hella has not impressed me a hella of a lot.

Hella is turning into a big disappointment. Fortunately their saving grace is that they are bringing back a lot of lenses and lights from pre 90s cars to the SA market now.

I also fitted some Hella Taxi Trumpets to my E30 today. Perfect replacement to the 30year old stock horns that were under there. Only R180 from my local Midas.

Only Nightbreaker+, the normal ones only last about 3-6 months. Osram even state that on their website.
 
I paid R1600 for a pair of Xenons for my C class.

Merc wanted R3200 per bulb.
 
This might be a stupid question, but non the less something i wondered about,
Cant one replace all the lights on your car with LED replacements?, they are just as bright and virtually never needs replacement?
 
HID bulbs R1200 per bulb.

I overheard a guy losing his temper at the garage. Apparently they replaced his bulbs twice as they were failing(at his cost).

Apparently on the 3rd time, they tell him his headlight is leaking. He was having none of it.
