This is great news
Bigger notes devalues your currency. I'm glad they are doing away with the R 200 notes.
edit:
Nvm, just read now it's only because of the fakes doing the rounds.... But they should stop printing R 200 notes all together and remove it.

My business also does not accept R200 notes anymore. We did accept the new one previously, but earlier this week our bank called us because one of the notes we deposited was fake. It was one of the new notes. :-( So no more R200 for us.Mabele, Mmule is wrong. First of all, it's word of advice, secondly, it's only the OLD R200 note which is being taken out of circulation. Please email this person or preferably his boss to correct the mistake.
So the counterfeiters are going to start counterfeiting R100.00 notes instead. It won't be as profitable but it will still be money for nothing.
How about instead of treating the symptom they find the counterfeiters and arrest them instead.
Please note that the banks will not accept a R200 note from 01 June 2010.
Do not except any R200 notes after 31 May 2010, you won’t be able to do anything with the R200 note. Customers can only exchange R200 notes at the branch up to R5000. If they have more, they need to go to the Reserve Bank directly. All R200 notes that customers have from 01/06/10, will have to be exchanged directly at the Reserve Bank.

There's about R1 million rand's worth of R200 counterfeit notes circulating right now and it's recommended that any business refuse to accept a R200 note. I've seen a few shops recently, both in Eastgate & Greenstone with signs saying they won't accept R200 anymore.

well **** a duck
lets say you were saving cash for a rainy day
and lets say you go check
and a portion of the rainy day are these mickey mouse notes.....
You should never have accepted any fake notes in the first place.
If they are the old ones, then you can still present them at your bank to be changed.
Don't be daft its not like anyone accepts them on purpose?
Anybody who accepts one only has themselves to blame.... and would deserve the title of "daft"
Smart people check their notes.... I always do.
The fact that you were worried about it means you never really did check them in the first place... did you?
A fool and his money are soon parted.
I haven't seen anything about this on mybb.
