R44 per GB ADSL

Perhaps I'm really missing the boat here, but my average rate on Telkom is around R43.50/gb on telkom... with their whole shared cap thing and all I get around 5.5GB blended a month and another 30GB local...

anyhow, to him that knows how you keep international access on the local usage... but I'm NOT sharing.

Ja? ... and?

I get more than R200.00 a month back on my food bills from Pick and Pay. I get gym membership for life at R500 once off. I get enough points four times a year to buy R500 worth of gifts for each family member from Vitality Mall. My wife gets her prepaid vouchers for R220 instead of R270.

...and they are introducing a new plan as well where I get 25% discount on all health food bought from Pick and Pay over and above my normal discount.

What's your point?

And you're getting all that value for only like R2000/month for your medical aid! Wow, that's almost like FREE! :P

The PnP bit sounds good... I don't see them as a partner, though. Do you have a link to more details?

The annual card fee is R290.00 for the Gold card.
The Discovery Miles option adds another R195.00

Cash back from Pick and Pay purchases (not counting all the other partners stores) = R200 a month X 12 = R2400 per annum.
Miles Earned from purchases = approx. R2000 per annum

and that is not all the benefits alone... just two of them.

The Finance fees are the same as for a regular FNB credit card.(but I pay my card off completely every month anyway, so I don't pay much in finance fees)

... and from February 2009, we now get 25% discount on all "health food" purchases at Pick and Pay as well.

... so I don't get how you see this as a bad thing?

jealousy maybe?

If anyone is serious about taking the Vitality thing to its fullest extent there is a ton of ways you save. Movie tickets for R8 each at Junction cinemas (for a family of 5 that's a savings of at least R60 EVERY time I go to the movies). I know may of you say.. .but I don't do this.. .and I don't do that... that's fine... nobody is forcing you to. But for those who want to save on these options there are indeed some VERY VERY good savings to be had.

Agree and when u fly u get savings as well.
Movie card rules u saves so much!!!
If your on the platinum card even more.
I like how Discovery are joining and giving us a wide choice.

Ha ha ha ha the craziest thing is very few people singing the praises of Vitality ever mention the actual medical aid benefits you receive with Discovery!! :)

Yeah true they are a lil **** in that department but as long as u don't get sick who cares?

Awww, come on. Don't be a fool. The Medical Aid fees are for a designated purpose. You would be a fool not to have a medical aid. And Discovery's cover is excellent. It would be a lot more if it was not subsidised by their lifestyle products.

Don't be all sore just cos you can't afford it. I can't afford a big screen TV, but I will not compromise on my family's health and wellbeing.

Actually the medical aid benefits are great! I can give you next year's schedule if you would like an in-depth look.... and once again Discovery leads the way.

Two years ago they started the Doctor's partnership payment scheme... and everybody laughed at them. Today nearly 75% of all doctors have agreed to that partnership. Now I walk into a doctor... find out if he is on the partnership... and I know my entire bill will be covered by Discovery.

Where does all this money come from? Somewhere someone is footing the bill? Seems like they feel like giving cash away I guess.

Oh, I am sure there are plenty of subscribers who do not make use of or do not know how to use the benefits. They subsidise the rest of us who know how the system works. ;)

The moral of the story is... read the fine print.

The odd R200 a month is 6% of my food bill... so we are buying groceries to the value of at least R1700.00 a month at Pick and Pay.

huh? 200/1700 = 6%? You mean you are buying at least R3333 worth of groceries? Or am I missing something?

No, the 6% discount is with the Discovery Gold Credit Card (it would be 5%, but I am on Bronze Status). It goes up to 10% the higher your status.

The 25% discount is for health foods using the health food card.

LOL, I know it sounds confusing. But I still think it is worth it.

If you need a good medical aid, and you are willing to run with the Vitality thingy, you can only win. There are no other hidden costs.

There might be no hidden cost but the only way you can afford it is if your employer subsidises your medical aid atleast thats the only way I can afford it. Vitality without half being paid by your employer is not exactly affordable no matter how many bells and whistles they might give you.
