R59 “unlimited” Nokia data service

Nashua Mobile has launched an uncapped data package called Xtreme data for Nokia smartphones.

The following usage thresholds are in place to ensure a quality service for all and curb abuse on the network:

100 Megabytes of usage will be considered as the acceptable Average Use threshold on the Network. User Accounts that reach the Average Use threshold of 100 Megabytes and/or accounts that have used the Network for connections other than the intended services will have their Service shaped and/or throttled. We shall use an overall usage index over a period of 7 days to automatically determine which accounts have reached the average use threshold. You will receive an SMS notification before you reach the 100 Megabytes Average use threshold.

160 Megabytes of usage or more will be considered as the High Use threshold on the Network. High-use accounts and/or accounts that have used the Network for connections other than the intended use of the Service will have their Service shaped and/or throttled further. We shall use an overall usage index over a period of 7 days to automatically determine high use accounts. You will receive an SMS notification before you reach the 160 Megabytes high-use threshold. All users’ Network conditions will be restored at the beginning of every new month. We reserve the right to contact high-use Subscribers and ask them about their usage patterns or recommend that they move onto a more suitable data plan.

i'm going to starting offering uncapped food for life for only R1000 once-off
if you use more than 50 grains of rice a month, i'm going to start throttling you though... maybe to 1 grain a day initially... then half a grain

(a handful of protocols) "unlimited data" of 100MB.

Okay, if that didn't make you throw up:

Thereafter throttled half to death until 160MB.

If you're STILL not spewing vomit all in Nashua's face, then:

And thereafter throttled completely to death.

LOL love that analogy!!! sad but soooo true hey. But in all honesty how much data can a symbian phone use? I know my Sammy Sung would laugh in the face of that so i guess its good its just a Nokia thing. I think that MTN should keep the 2gigs thing at R185 think that that is a fair and reasonable price.

You see that small bit of hope that this might be a great BIS alternative, you read on and then in disgust go to 8ta or cell-c to go buy a data bundle.

Can I subscribe to this offer? it sounds really great!

Nokia and Nashua stay losing... they can go to hell. 100mb is a joke!!!

I'll stick to my iPhone and BB combo anyday.

Another weak offering from Nashua/MTN. People should not be fooled. This is uncapped at it's worst.

These numbers seem to correlate with what Vodacom claimed their normal BIS users go through in a month, during that period when they were dealing with heavy use.

I think this is going to be big.

Not for me, or you guys, but for the guy on the street who basically use facebook and WhatsApp.

We are very seldom the target market for these things.

For what this product is worth its actually the right way to do things..

See MTN, its unlimited in the fact that it costs R59pm.. with no overrage charges...

Plus, 100mb a month - 160mb a month would be more than enough for me and my phone.... because it only uses 3g when I'm not at home or at work, then its on wifi 90% of the time.
