been and still on SA since this NSA to SA transition began but my download speed took a hit I've been waiting for it to improve since.

It's not beyond usability but its not worth a 1000 bucks.

Please could you PM me with your email address that is linked to your rain account, let me take a look into it.

How is it that Rain network is sooooooo unstable while gaming ????

Constant packet loss , constant glitches , connection problems and NAT Type of strict ?

How can they not allow a person to change the NAT Type to Moderate ?

Great getting 250mb download speed but when its that unstable its worthless to be honest

Please note that rain is a mobile sim card which is Nat type 2,due to this being a mobile offer which works slightly different to normal Fixed wireless networks including the Afrihost offer, therefore gaming is deemed more of a fixed network requirement. Our mobile network does not cater for this even if it is a static or dynamic IP.

Thanks for providing more insight into how RAIN think about their service offering.
I have to point out though, that how do you expect users to react to this?
The service offers FIXED IDUs and ODUs, which implies that this service is a FWA service, where mobility is NOT the KEY service driver? Therefore what you are offering is a mobile service designed for mobility, deployed as a FWA service which it is therefore not?
This IS the key here, inadvertently, you are therefore expecting people to treat your service as a FWA service BUT with certain limitations associated with it being a mobile service?

Excellent reply - Rain needs to understand that 5G is a FIXED DEVICE !! its not a roaming simcard in your phone !

Hi guys, just wondering if anyone else is having a similar experience...

Since switching my router to SA it seems like it can't figure out which tower to connect to anymore. I've been keeping an eye on the optimiser on rain.co.za and I've seen it connect to 4 different towers since the change. Before the switch to SA it was always on the same tower 1km away from me. This morning it's connected to one that's over 2km away.

I haven't moved the router or changed any other settings apart from the NSA/SA one. This is extremely annoying because anytime the router connects to the further towers my dl speeds drop DRASTICALLY.

I'm glad to say that since my initial issues, it's been much better. This last week my connection has been great. Still have to do a speed test on cable but everything's been working which is a relief.

Guys i am struggling to understand something ...
since we got moved to the SA 5G service my speeds have not even improved - I notice some people have there routers indoor and by a window and get over 200 down and close to 100 up ??

I am more concerned for my upload speed i don't get over 15 which is also very unstable sometimes drops to 2 upload .

is there any settings I need to change etc. ?

Mine is on a pole on the chimney and still I get

Signal Intensity: LTE (NA)NR (-91 dBm)
Signal Quality: LTE (NA)NR (12 dB)
4 bars signal on 5G

As per the rain map I am 1KM from the tower

Those are pretty decent speeds considering. My average currently around 160Mbps with signal strength in the low 70's also just over 1km from tower.

So with 5G SA (stand alone) being phased in over some parts of Gauteng starting this week please sound off if you have being switched and whether or not you see an improvement overall and what area you are located in.

I have been on SA for while now, area pta cbd. Yes there’s improvements my upload went from 35Mbit to about 140mbit and the connection is a turd more stable I haven’t tested online gaming yet since the switch.

Can say i have zero issues when playing, dota, siege, CSGO, COD MW, SCUM, pretty much any games amazing ping and no issues ever. Most likely your tower or setup
ODU with indoor Q2

Yeah i do not then understand how i get such low upload speeds when im so close to the tower , plus having it mounted on the roof facing the tower.
