You dry your clothes on the central heating heat radiators. Or just hang them up in the bathroom.

Neither. No heaters on in our place -- not needed. And no. if we run out of changes of clothes, we go dirty for a week or so. The washing just piles up.

Basic bean, barley, onion, vege soup is always available in our place in winter. I remember the days when there was always a pot of soup on the coal stove, ready and waiting for all and sundry to help themselves during the winter months.

Spot on! 30% of the year in CT is rainy. The rest (besides the 5 good days) is windy.

You won't be needing anything like that here in Cape Town. It doesn't get cold enough. maybe if you go overnight hiking in Matroosberg after it snows. To be honest, I'm still sleeping outside on the stoep. Had to sleep indoors some of the nights last week, but that's because of a combination of hard rain and heavy wind from the west. When the wind is light I can roll down the sun blind to keep the rain out. Last night was lovely. Duvet and a pair of shorts.

Unfortunately you arrived in a very windy March. March and April are usually our best months. Little wind, flat and warm seas, lots of fish. We had very late SE and winter came late as well, as evidenced by the many black SE's we had.

I can't get a roofer to show up to fix a leak. They say they will, and then delay and delay and delay and then nothing. Can anyone recommend a good reliable roofer in Northern Suburbs?

Nice and cool, but rarely gets below 8 degrees here. If it gets cold I just throw a blanket over the duvet. I live close to the sea. Lovely listening to the ocean when you fall asleep.

I usually move inside in the warmer part of summer.

Same reason I see people kite surfing in rainstorms and still wearing shorts when the weather is this cold

Cape town people are just weird, maybe it's culture shock, or maybe it's just how things are down here, nothing to be concerned about.
